Windows 7 and Bluetooth Headsets

Postby Daz » Sat Mar 27, 2010 10:27 am

So I bought a bluetooth dongle for my PC and a new bluetooth headset because i was thinking that using a bluetooth headset as a mic would be much more comfortable than any of those bulky gaming headsets. the thing is - after a while it always just disappears from the audio devices and stops functioning, usually without warning any way for me to know except that after time i realize people can no longer hear me.

has anyone used bluetooth headsets with windows 7 on a pc (not a laptop, i imagine their bluetooth services are integrated and perform better)

i don't think that the service shutting down after 30 minutes on a brand new headset would be caused by battery life issues, although that was an early suspicion of mine

I have a couple bluetooth devices, they tend to stop transmitting after 2-3 minutes of no voice transmit activity (maybe as long as 10, I don't use it very oten anymore).

Is the device still 'connected' when you stop getting audio? Are you still receiving on it? If you are receiving but not transmitting, then its likely your device has an issue.

like kiryan said if i don't talk for a few minutes then it will arbitrarily just decide to stop working altogether, despite still showing as connected, being identified in the device manager, the headset itself remaining powered and functional - so i said screw it and spent 60 bucks on the fatal1ty creative gaming headset and now i can cuss out people on modern warfare 2 all i like!
