Surtur Epic Quest

These are the current rewards:

a fiery helm of power - ac15 2/0 -5ss farsee pff de dg !sum !mage
reagents, vials, and pouches hanging from a leather cord - 200lb cont 20hp 9dex dm
a shroud of blazing flames - ac10 30hp 3maxint pff !war
a pair of emblazoned shadowy boots - ac5 3/0 5hp !war !cle !mage
a holy water sprinkler - 3d5 25hp 3max_wis !drop !war (good or evil only)
a shimmering crystal scimitar 4d4 4/2 pfe pfg !thi !mag (proc crystal spark/energy)

These are my suggested changes:

a fiery helm of power - ac15 3/0 -5ss farsee pff de dg !sum !mage

a shroud of blazing flames - ac10 30hp 3maxint pff !war
a pair of emblazoned shadowy boots - ac10 4/0 10hp
a holy water sprinkler - 3d5 25hp 3max_wis !drop !war (good or evil only) procs holy/unholy word
a shimmering crystal scimitar 4d4 4/2 pfe pfg !thi !mag (proc crystal spark/energy)

My reasoning:

Shroud/scimitar are fine. Fiery helm can use 1 more hitroll and still be a significant downgrade from the new 4hit -8ss surtur, but still be decent. The reagents have always made more sense as a quiver, and right now the stats suck balls. Make them unique and have dm/farsee and people will consider swapping out their agi/ac quivers (why are mages all using quivers anyway). The boots in their current form are absolutely horrible. Remove the class restrictions, buff their ac, hitroll, and hp bonus to suggested levels and they're still nowhere near top end eq, but useful for various things. The sprinkler was always supposed to proc holy/unholy word, and I swear it did for a short time... put that back in.

The quest isn't that difficult, but these small changes will make it worthwhile to complete in my opinion.

The rewards arent comparable to new quests rewards.
If you want an upgrade for the gear actually in game its ok.
But most of gear you get from this quest is out of date.

Given rogue healage via Khanji, Pal/Anti-pal getting it through their respective avengers, the scimitar certainly wouldn't be too overpowered to up the frequency it does its baby cure light/serious

Yeah nobody uses those boots or the belt. They are storage gear, unfortunately. I love the idea of reagents becoming a quiver. Fiery helm is only useful in that it is nosummon and PFF. Shroud and scimitar have always been decent. The quest isn't easy by any means. It is time the quest rewards here are looked at.

Another quest that should be looked at is the Oakvale/Kazgoroth quest...

K guys here's the deal. I agree with you about Surt, CM, conquest armour whatever... but nobody has time to do anything about it. All my mudding time is spent helping people load and debug their new content, so you have 2 options.

1. Continue listing things to fix but realize it's essentially falling on deaf ears.
2. Offer to fix it yourself, send me an email.
