(AINA) -- The car explosion that went off in front of Saints Coptic Orthodox Church in Alexandria killed 21 and injured 96 parishioners who were attending a New Year's Eve Mass. According to church officials and eyewitnesses, there are many more victims that are still unidentified and whose body parts were strewn all over the street outside the church. The body parts were covered with newspapers until they were brought inside the church after some Muslims started stepping on them and chanting Jihadi chants (video showing dead bodies and limbs covered with newspapers in the street).

-- FYI Egypt is something like 9-11% Christian.. maybe as high as 18%. Religion is an official piece of information like your gender. You may change your official religion to islam at will, to change from islam to christian I believe is crime, if not a crime it requires all sorts of additional hurdles meant to dissaude you from switching.

Sarvis, please explain the disparity between the islamic and the christian dynamics here. The christians here are the minority, easily verifiably discriminated against and oppressed, yet no suicide bombings are being conducted by the Christians in Egypt. The islamists here, in teh majority and with all the power, used a car bomb to kill many Christians after most of the police disappeared an hour before the blast. Then islamists danced on the fresh corpses shouting God is Great.

What was the horrible situation in Egypt for islamists, perpetrated by the oppressive christians, that caused the isalmist to become extremists and conduct this bombing?

Well, for one thing it seems like Al-Qaeda is behind the attack... rather than specifically Egyptian Islamists. So how horrible the situation is for Egyptians is probably not an issue.

Second, the article briefly mentions the Copts or Assyrians as holding some Islamic women for some reason. This apparently precipitated threats by Al-Qaeda and probably the attack as well.

Third: The Christians started throwing stones at the Islamists in the area. This is your non-violence? They responded to violence with violence. If they'd had explosives handy, there's little doubt in my mind that they would have been used.

Remember Kiryan, you're trying to prove Christians would not become violent... not that they became violent but lacked grenades.

kiryan wrote:It boils down like this teflor. Two people do the same exact "good" thing. One does it in the name of the lord, the other just does it because its "good" or specifically opposing God. In technical Christian terms, one was good, the other was evil despite it being literally the same act. This is how a "good" person can still go to hell... evil is defined as everything external to God. If Mother Teresa had been a devotee of the FSM... evil in Christian terms, still going to hell.

And if two "christians" disagree? Or is your viewpoint that they're both trying to be christian that makes them "good" and not "evil?"
