Very happy the Tea Party guys aren't backing down. Everyone always talks about 'politics as usual' - and this is kind of an opposite example. No compromises and/or horse trading. The measure of success is how much spending is cut. And nice to see that the old school Republicans who talk a good game and never really come through are feeling pressured.

I went to town hall about 2 weeks ago. I got irritated at one point with the republicans standing up there saying that the committee process is the best place to have input and they can't read emails and yea it sucks you have to drive 200 miles to participate in government etc etc etc... I got fed up with the excuses and just shouted "change it" and got a few applause.

$61 billion is a broken campaign promise. They promised a number, and nobody who went to the voting booth for these guys was expecting a statement about how their promise needs to be prorated based on time in office.

I'm starting to think that maybe having a Tea Party minority in the House would be better for America than having a neo-conservative minority. The Tea Party, for all their crazy impressions about social politics, seems to actually be committed to reducing spending in the government. They'd be a good countermeasure for a Democratic majority. They'd vote down spending increases on principle, not on politics.

No it's not. Republicans said within a year. After this fiscal year, they will have 5-6 more months. Get your facts straight, sir.
