Sued for holding people at gun point on your land

Postby kiryan » Fri Feb 04, 2011 10:39 pm

Is it right for you to be sued for confronting and presumably holding illegal immigrants on your land at gun point?

I'm sure there is a lot more to this story, but lets take it at face value and ignore claims of abuse (he is accused of kicking one of them) and lets also assume he properly executed a "citizen's arrest" and that he properly posted no trespassing signs in accordance with the law. Is it ok to detain people at gun point who are on your property?

I say yes. But I love this quote from the article.

"Even in Arizona, vigilantes do not have the right to harass and victimize peaceful migrants."

They forgot to add "committing a crime of illegal immigration and trespassing." Not to mention I'm sure littering, often vandalism and probably pissing and shitting in violation of some health law somewhere.

Well, not to poop on this party, but there is both a moral and legal difference between holding a gun on someone saying, "don't make me use this," and "yer' gonna fu**ing die illegal."

The lawsuit is stupid, but so is the whole damn situation. Sure, Albert Einstein was an immigrant, but uncontrolled 'immigration' is actually an invasion.

I agree, but can you hold someone at gunpoint who is on your own property? Even if you are specifically targetting illegals?

Well, in the state of Maryland, no, not really... I could in Texas, though.

No you can't just pull a fucking gun on someone just because he is on your property.

Nope, you don't get to pull a gun out and mete out vigilante justice against people committing a nonviolent, nonthreatening crime.

In most states, it is actually a crime to do so.

While we can debate the idea that religion is a dangerous weapon, I was actually just replying to the original post.

When I was about 12 years old I managed to lose my house keys one day and had to sit in front of my house a few hours until my mother got home. Unfortunately that was also the day the Jehova's Witnesses chose to visit. Being kind of polite by nature and also bored as hell I humored them for about 2 hours. When my mother got home they started telling her about how interested I was in their religion and that was the first time I ever saw my mother as capable of causing violent harm to another human being. :)

yeah, only parents should be able to brainwash their kids into believing in mystical skyfaeries, or else they might believe in the wrong faeries
