This shouldn't be a power of any government.

Just okay huh... The reason always cited is childhood obesity. So we need a new tax on "sugary" drinks to prevent childhood obesity.

would it surprise you to find out that ounce for ounce, whole milk has more calories than soda?

My 12 oz can of dew has 170 calories, milk is 150 calories per 8 oz.

Thats 33% more calories per ounce in milk than mdew (I think coke is 150 calories in 12oz). 100% pure fruit juice (with no added sweeteners) I believe is also in the same ball park.

I suppose that's probably why more than a few schools have instructed their food service companies not to serve whole milk. Funny thing is that 25 years ago they were telling me in school that I needed to drink whole milk (which is about 4-5% vs not skim or 2%) because it was better for you. Also recently in the news were schools debating banning chocolate milk.

Can we drop the pretenses... this is not about obesity... its a war on soda by the liberal religion that soda and sugary drinks are responsible for all health ailments pushed by people who think they know what you should and shouldn't drink. Liberals legislating morality again.

To be fair, we are kind of used to paying bullshit taxes on everything already.
