facebook losing subscribers?

Basically it says Facebook has been losing subscribers in several countries, the US included. I'm finding it hard to believe (I do not facebook at all). IIRC teflor commited facebook suicide, but how many people really delete their profiles instead of just not using them anymore...
Furthermore, I really can't see why anyone would stop facebooking. I think its shallow and makes public way too much private information, but once you're in and connected... why would you voluntarily separate yourself? I could see my folks left myspace (to go to facebook), but I can't see anything that people are leaving facebook for. It doesn't make sense to me. I had a few friends "quit" facebooking because it became a job to play all their facebook games... but still they didn't "delete" their profiles. 6 million accounts is 3.8%, to lose 3.8% of your US subscribers in one month... what am I missing?
Perhaps the story is poorly researched.
