Paladin Model Potentially?

As you read on you will see this takes alot of inspiration from the ranger model. and for very good reason the ranger model is fantastic and when you have a great idea like that you build on it!

Having said that, this class is also very different from what it was and what ranger is. while alot of it will look the same alot of the paladin abilities as you read on have dual purposes and have benefits based on who they are used upon.

We also move the paladin toward a two-handed specialist where as rangers require dual wield for all their cool stuff paladins require two-handers for all but one.

We also see alot to do with mounts. this is because at higher levels the paladin will be mounted as often as they can because they gain benefits from doing so. it also fixes the problem that makes mounted combat useless for paladins as it stands. no bashing. it also fixes the lack of ability to bash with a two-hander by replacing bash with a two-hand bash.

And my favorite part. the healing system. paladins have always been meh heals ok to support themselves but have a ridiculous down time for using spells as it stands now. what this system does for them is allows them to use heals as heals for themselves or others or as weapons vs the undead.

I was really impressed and inspired by the ranger changes and think a system similar to this could work for every class.

Changes To Skills:

GUARD
Applied skill.

Syntax: guard <target>
Class/Level: Paladin 30th

The guard skill allows those with the skill to prevent the target from 1 attack that
would otherwise kill them. This can only occur once every five minutes and the
target must be in the same group. Guard will remain on the target until removed.

LAYHANDS
Innate Skill

Syntax: layhand <victim>
Aggressive: No
Class/Level: Paladin 1st

Paladins can layhands on a wounded victim creating a healing effect. For Paladins
level 40+, this skill will heal the target completely. This skill may not be used on
evil targets.. Layhands is usable once per game day.
