Displacement does any good?
Displacement does any good?
Does this spell do anything except the message of 'Your form is displaced!'?
This powerful illusion spell displaces the victim's form, meaning
that the victim will appear to be a few feet from where they actually
stand, thuis making it very difficult for the victim to be hit in
melee combat. Each attempted hit towards the caster makes his
position easier to pinpoint, and thus lessens the chance that the
victim will avoid being hit.
That's the text of the spell... the last line is a little confused, target wise. Uses both caster and victim, etc.
Haven't seen the spell in use yet.

From the sound of the spell description it seems like the spell would only really effect the first few attacks, and after that the mob knows where to pinpoint the target. Is this how it works?
If so, I'd think it should be changed so that effect reset each round.. So for a mob that gets multiple attacks, or with multiple mobs attacking the tank, the first attack would have a decent penalty, then next a smaller one etc, until after a few attacks there is no benefit. Then presumably the pc moved around during the fight (next round) and the penalties to the hit the pc are there again.

Just like stoneskin, this spell will last longer on a warrior-type class that avoids or blocks more blows. However, unlike stoneskin, misses do chip away at it (since it was the cause of the miss). As a result, it will wear off quicker than stoneskin, especially on a mage. However, I believe (I may be wrong) that the combination of this spell with blur, very good ac, and stoneskin will make warriors virtually immune to hits while the spells are active.
