CP quest bug?!

Postby Kifle » Mon Mar 04, 2002 2:20 pm

There is a quest in CP that has been driving me nuts for some time now...I was told by a mob to give a certain item he gave me to a ghost in the CP catacombs...well there are two ghosts down there, one agro, one not. I have tried to talk to this ghost and can only get an action, and I got lucky once and got him to say something...well, anyway, When I try to give him the item I was told to, it tells me he must consent me first...I am hoping this is a bug Image

thanks,

There are LOTS of quests where this is a problem. If it isn't intentional, then there
are lots of shall we say 'small bus riding
area gods'. It is one of the most frustrating
things concerning quests here. It doesnt take a rocket specialist to fix the problem
of quest mobs being to weak to accept the
items they require. But it has gone on and on
So you have to wonder that for some twisted, sick and/or preverted reason, the gods of this mud enjoy forcing people to do quests when they are on and visible and deign to help you get a mob to consent you.

But I'm not bitter really! Image

There are several quests which have that issue, with most of them, a simple bow is the polite introduction.

That quest is working perfeclty fine, as a matter of fact I did it just today. Which is probably how you saw the mobs, cause I searched them out... heard you shouting around town during that time.

Cherzra says this quest works, and you must search out the mob.... but in the future .. a suggestion .. try to perfom an action to make it consent you .. ie .. the Shaman Group heal quest .. you must bow to the mob .. then it consents you..

I was in the group that did gheal when Cyric made the gheal mob consent on bow, so its not standard procedure or anything, he has to do it to individual quest mobs when he sees them, I think.

I think some mobs do it automatically now, I know of a few that do specifically, but would prefer not to mention the quests, suffice to say they're up north. I would imagine if they don't all, they're likely working on making it so.

Some quests up north still requires god intervention, at least did earlier this week.

Certain mobs types (ie spirits) are extremely weak. If area makers pumped up their strength then it would be much harder for people to get their quest items back when they make mistakes. Also mobs are very picky about how much weight they will accept (perhaps too picky) even a dragon will require consent for more than a few hundred coins :P

The current solution is to add a script to mobs that will make them consent to someone who bows before them. If you come across a quest mob and bow does not work then please tell a god so that we may fix it (also most admins can get the mob to consent you)

You do realize that area makers don't determine mob str? They only set mob race and class, and the str is autocalculated.

Hmm.... now that I think about it, there IS a workaround, but boy is it a kludge. Very inelegant.
