Justice and Invis

Postby Malacar » Tue Oct 15, 2002 12:06 am

Some idiot just tried to tie me up and turn me in while they were invis. This puts all melee classes at a severe disadvantage when it comes to justice.

Tying someone up is an aggressive action, and absolutely should break the invis spell.

I couldn't tie him up at all.

Plus it makes no sense.

I don't wanna turn this into a 'justice sucks' thread (even though I think whatever coder designed this code was smoking so much crack it would make all the drug addicts in the world envious).

Invisibility is cancelled out by aggressive physical movements.

Knocking someone down, and tying them up, is aggressive.

agree with malacar. attempting to tie someone up should break invis.

guess what else is fun, if you aren't level 25 as a mage - you don't get unbind - and you are totally helpless if someone ties you up. why, they may not even turn you in - they could just drag you around to their heart's delight.

For once I really have a strong opinion about something. I'm sick of Toric? and others binding people up. They think it's a big joke. The exp loss to those who die is not a bit friggin funny if they die due to execution. To turn a fellow player in is just a-hole's anonymous... Also, there's such a HUGE way of exploiting justice here. There was a partnership of dude 1 and dude 2. 1 gets tied up/drug, dude 2 gets money. Now 1 unbinds goes and gets tied up again etc..endless money. Fix justice PLEASE! The notion of an RDF guard knocking you down and binding you w/o save, ...it's weak and not real. Neither is justice. What's the point of justice?

Guys, I want to keep this on the topic of invis and justice.. If you want to post on removing aspects of justice, or the entire thing, there are plenty of threads to post in, or start a new one.

Don't mean to be a jerk, just wanna stay on topic, thanks. Image

PS - Yes, I was accosted by Tiroc too, who claimed it was funny. I didn't find it funny, and when he gets omitted from my rescue list and/or groups I am in, I don't think he will either.

I somehow doubt you would ever have invited him into your group anyway, Malacar. Which may be one of the reasons he found it so funny.

There was only one person I would not group with Daz, and that wasn't you.

So please, spare me the off-the-cuff flame, because you have no idea what you're talking about. I had grouped with him many times before today.

I was not flaming, it was a statement. Why so defensive, gheesh. If the guy does this, and you ask him not to - then you have every right to not group with him. I don't know who the person you are talking about is, you said a name - that's all I heard. I was trying to guess a motivation without facts . . . my fault entirely, I misread stuff.

I have had many problems with justice, both in useage (i'm sorry thanuk, however i doubt you take apologies well), and in code. no matter what i keep dying to justice in WD cuz i get turned in, but i'm actually wanted in ZK).

I seriously think justice should come out, that's another post.

From what I understand however, as long as justice remains in the game, this kind of thing is the price you pay. I got tied up and drug somewhere as a mage without unbind, and i was totally helpless. Talk about sucky. I am very anti-justice. :P

In respect to the 'role play' aspect of Malacar's original post...

If in fact you could tie someone up while invis...wouldn't waterdeep or some other cities have the funds to hire Magi Bounty Hunters....that could be 100% more effective travel faster and so on...

abosolutely an attempt to tie someone up should break invis...IMO

For the third time...

Evils just stay out of this thread please. You've entirely taken everything out of context, and frankly, you have nothing constructive to offer so far.

My post was NOT complaining to take justice out.

It was NOT complaining I was arrested.

It was NOT advertising for a sympathy trip.

It was NOT advocating that justice sucks.

It WAS an askance for some form of balance.

It WAS asking for Invisibility to be normalized across the board.

Myre - If Improved Invisibility existed on this mud, then sure, they should. It doesn't, and thus they don't.

I stand by my original post. Please fix this.

unbind should be a level 1 skill

and trying to tie someone up should break invis.

funny how 3/4 this thread is evils supporting your idea......

yes if its agressive it should snap invis

no justice is not pkill, killing a mob in justice is like killing a mob you know you cant kill but trying anyway and it kills you, it just takes longer for it to kill you
its your fault you died, not the person who found you

Mal sweetie most of the evils are agreeing with you!

We agree that performing an aggressive action should cause the aggressor to snap into visibility.

What someone's point was that if you weren't a bad boy to begin with you couldn't be caught:P

Ditto what Zoldren said.

P.S Malacar, Zoldren never said you got caught and died, he was responding to Moritheil's post that justice is pkill. At leat I think.

P.P.S. Don't go trashin evils, especially when we all seem to agree with you.

P.P.P.S Have you ever known a thread here to stay on topic?

P.P.P.P.S. Lets talk about oranges. I like oranges their nice and round and have a good orangy smell to them. I think there needs to be more oranges around. In fact I'm going to go get some oranges right now.
