Postby Norek » Thu Nov 14, 2002 4:34 pm

I notice terms that are used on the mud that I dont think I fully understand. Can someone nice please fill me in.

pwned?
w00t?
l33t?
nog?

Or any other mud speak that I cant remember now. Whats it all mean!?

And who the hell is ymir?

0wn3d: As in irc speak: "I 0wnz0r5 you".

w00t: woot!

1337, 133t, &c: leet. Short for "elite". Context dependent whether it is good, bad, or joking.

"God I'm 1337" is normally a joke after someone has screwed up or is making fun of themselves in someway.

As for nog... I think I actually reported that as a typo when I started playing :-)

Its a cultural thing, think "nodding".

pwned is just another way of spelling owned. for example, after killing 20 lvl 50 mobs, a lvl 50 group would say "pwned" or something.

w00t is just woot. something like whoo hoo.

l33t is another way to spell elite. can be negative or positive.

nog is nod i guess?

ymir is a demi god i think that roams hidden on the jotunheim grid. because it's hidden, people usually have to sweep the grid to find ymir (he has good equipment). not sure if this is the reason it started:
my friends and i had been going up to jot on boot as fast as we could. we found ymir 2/3 of the times so we thought we were gonna be seeing him more. malacar kept saying "omg ymir" on EVERY lifeform we scanned and i guess it caught on.

As I recall, a nog involves the head moving up then returning to normal, the opposite of a nod. But yeah.

Here's another thread to help you out (or maybe confuse you), started by Sok. Gotta love Sok.

This is mud speak? Heck, if any of you had lab with me you'd be subjected to it on a semi-regular basis Image

Basically, Ymir is an exceedingly rare load.
