THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the MUD
Not a charecter was fighting, not even a noob;

The beer had been set by the keyboard with care,
In hopes that Chaos Christmas soon would be there;

The MUDders were reclining all ansi in their chairs,
While visions of blood-filled streets waived their stare;

And Yaya with his comics, and Muma petting her cat,
Were warming up for what was sure to be a slap,
When from the top left of the monitor there was such a message,
“Connected to host sojourn3.org”, oh what a visiage!

Away to the active window I clicked like a flash,
Typed in my user name and password, what the hell is a sash?!
The dragon of green ansi above the menu of blue glow
Gave me the assurance that I was good to go!

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a halfling named Nokie, and 2 quick backstabs, oh dear…
With flash of blinkies, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment I’d be back to the menu shtick.

More rapid than vig’d clerics I grabbed all my gear,
While others shouted, and shouted, and called out to those near;
"Now, Ashiwi! now, Fen! now, Vigis and Lorgan!
“Someone help! I’m dead this time for certain!”

To the top of the inn! Around the top of the wall!
Flee! hide! Get the hell away from that fireball!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an aggro, run quick awry,

So up to the peace room the injured they fled,
With the few items they’ve scavenged, aggro, aura red.

And then, in a global, I read from the screen
The shouting and dropping of each little goodie.

As I typed with my hands, and was running through town,
When down the Stret of Silks Evils came with hell hounds.
They were dressed in hidious gear, from head to foot,
And their tactics were sound, so many lives they took;

A group of rogues! Careful, they track,
And they look feirce and hungry just opening their pack.
Their eyes -- how they glowed! their appearance how scary!
They were like soldiers; experienced, green and hairy!

Their pets resembled nightmares, their orcs had bows,
And the Trolls were regening quickly as time had flown;
The stump leg they held tight in their teeth,
And the smoke from the fighting hung low in the street;

They had run through the city; they were running everywhere,
The groups of goodies dropping like flies from thin air.
They fought and they died but with the help of an elf,
Dead goodies were welled in, and fought back the filth;

A sip of my beer and a few quick res’s,
Didn’t prepare me for the very next message;

Another global, this one bad, and there’d be no safe haven,
I used the ‘wet’ social my RP flag and action is what I was craven,
And entering from the north the room filled with shadow,
Tiamat, rular of Dragonkind, and all of hell from far below;

I spang to my feet, to her fire I cast ‘magic missile’,
And with that wrong macro, fled like the roar’d heroes.

I saw the Staff exclaim, as we got spanked out of sight,
"Happy Chaos Christmas to all, and to all a good smite!"

It was chaos new years last time, cuz most people couldn't make it for christmas eve.

I want to see better prepared good-evil fights and less same side racewar stuff ...

some surprise attacks while zoning, REAL hunting ... look to your partners who used to play pkill muds during the dark year soj was down ...

I want to see a guild vs guild war , to see how our strategies differ ...

i LOVE when the pkill flag gets turned on .. but damn i hate the *chaos* that follows

Let every god choose a avatar in a pc, and the 2 of them going around smiting... and yes allowing the imms to be killed too.. if a hefty enough plot and other gods w/avatars + groups help out :P

Give us the spanky artifact weapons and the swarm staffs. Have tia run wild through the streets of waterdeep. But also, plz dont do TOO much. I think last year perhaps it was a little bit of overkill with the avatars and stuff. We couldn't do any strategy or ambush any groups because we were constantly getting stomped on by some immort or another.

One suggestion.. have all the good race chars pop in wd after dying. I dont remember if this was done last year but it would certainly make sense considering the amount of dying that is going to happen.

Would suck to excluse dwarves and barbs from all the run.

Anyways, cant wait. let the chaos begin!

There was nothing wrong with me gormal and Udor or what ever his troll name was (sorry bro). I just had High hp nothing more I was told that gormal had hella good perm buffs on him but it didn't matter we had fun I wandered the streets of wd casting holy word till the evils tore at there ears. they would bash me and I would flee but when all was said and done few evils remained to hunt my streets.

-edit- I think you should take group limits out also.. I think it would be awesome to see at least one racewars happen, evils against the goods, just to see who came out on top.

as for the arena, you can do that any day of the week Chaos Christmas is once a year. For those who dont want to participate heres a little hint.. Most of the fighting takes place right in the 2 main home towns.. wd and dk.. anything else outside of there are normally pre-arranged or somebody jsut hates you that much that they are willing to stalk you when there is bigger game afoot!

God i remember the first Chaos Christmas...

it was great, there is no event i look forward to on this mud as much as chaos.. for those of you who say fight in the arena, well thats your concern.. (decided to omit what i was gonna say in the sake of the flames rule) But it really isnt the same, you have to enter the arena willingly.. at chaos YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CANT HIDE!!!

This was my first Chaos Christmas. Next year i am taking the day after Christmas off so I can play all night!

SOOOO much fun.

One suggestion for next year. You should not be able to get mucho hits during combat. Made it more difficult to kill someone when they were able to just refresh to 5000 hps at anytime.

Of course the 5000 hp assassinations were fun!

Jhorr tells you "go assassinate Thanuk and get me his Avernus"

The teleport assassinate was the lamest thing ever. Chaos was great fun, but for about a half an hour i would enter, get my hps restored, then have someone teleport me and assassinate almost instantly. there was nothing you could do about it except try to do the same thing to other people. I dont know why any of you were so amused by it, as it isn't really fighting but abusing a loophole in the extra power miax was trying to give us so that all the lowlevel people could play with the highlevels. Sucked all the fun right out of the chaos, actually. This is the reason player power is so limited and things get downgraded all the time, because you all will abuse anything they give you to the utmost degree.
Sorry to post a sour note, chaos christmas was a great time and id like to thank the gods for devoting the time and effort to show us a good time, and on christmas, no less. But god damn you people are twinks

Ok, well good work. You weren't the only one who killed me, and i dont recall calling you out. It was a more generalized statement than just one person, as im sure at least 20 different people did this to me, and im pretty sure that at least half of the people playing were just doing this to one another.
