Beholder procs

I'm curious as to why there are two versions of beholder eye-procs... one seems to be the 'old' version, that is un-ANSIed and whose tenth eye is deadly and seemingly very little chance to save vs. I've seen the beholder in UM2 and the stalk-of-the-deep in Oakvale use this version.

Then there is the newer colorized eye-procs, which beholders in Hulburg use, and aren't as absurd in terms of insta-killing you.

A beholder named 'Ylantha' misses you with its bite.
A beholder named 'Ylantha' glances at you with his first eye.
You somehow resist the will of a beholder named 'Ylantha'!

Haha, I know beholders are superpowered, but this might be a bit much.

PS - disint ray is a different topic. I'm all for death, but eq loss possibilities are a bit much, if there's no warning beforehand like there is with dragons.
