Unimpress this you damn spirit!

Postby Kifle » Sat Jan 18, 2003 7:33 am

WTH! I know dartan is uber and all and never fails and all this, but damn. I have had one occurance in like 3 or 4 months where i have been able to get 2/3 summons...most often it is 1/3 and 0/3. can this seriously be looked at. Could you possibly up the summon rate or make it !fail? Our spirits are no longer in the thousands of hps and what not so the limit is kinda retarded anymore. Especially when elementalists get unlimited elementals.

Please!

Weird Cifle...

uhm I rarly fail on my summons. Rarly. And my summon totem is@75 me thinks(need to check this when I log on).
Maybe it got to do with the summon totem skill???

Cause I always make sure using up my totems before I log.

Likely is skill dependent...and I've seen your eq...you sort of pleveled yourself to 45 doing DS in what...like 3 days? Not meant as offensive Kiflepoo...but I do think the skill level might be the confounding factor in your case! Rock on! Image

Bah! Screw you all! It's not plvling if you solo your way to the 40's, its called skill.

Anyway, my friend shalruk also had this problem and he is a 50th lvl shaman that solo'd exp until he was 50. It's not just me guys. I would at least like to know what this skill is dependant on. Or if it even correlates with the summon totem skill.

I gotta test this ... but Ambar rarely fails (seems like only when i REALLY need one to be honest)

She is definitely not plevelled (Playing time: 68 days / 11 hours/ 56 minutes)
, and only has a skill of 58 (o yuck didnt realize that) bah im not even going to theorize what STAT i THINK has something to do with it ....

wow im a noob Image less than 100 pdays Image

Edit: tried it naked, only holding totem and clouds scepter ... and these were the results ...

The spirit hyena says 'I have 532 (572) hits, and 142 (142) movement points.'
Ambar's pet the spirit hyena tells you 'I have 598 (638) hits, and 141 (141) movement points.'
Ambar's pet the spirit hyena tells you 'I have 661 (661) hits, and 140 (140) movement points.'

Hrm, maybe its just me and shalruk then or something...oh well. I still wouldn't think 3 every 2+ hours is a good number with being able to fail. It really sucks to sit around in an agro zone that you cant get out of very easily for 2+ hours because some mob toasted your only spirit on clouds and shield.

I rarely fail as well. My totem skill is >60.

Maybe the issue here is that you are dual wielding those spanky daggers and forgot to remove them to hold the totem? Silly rogue.

Or maybe it was due to the spirit getting confused with the name and thinking "why would I allow a rogue to summon me?"

Seriously though, I would love more spirits. I have been using them more than never these days to rescue peeps.

hmm an extra try or 2 wouldnt hurt!
Since the reason for it being 3 tries are worthless, I see no reason for keeping it that way.

Maybe give us 2 more tries at least?

How about this:

level 21-26 1 !fail summon, 2 normal summon (max 3)

level 27-35 2 !fail summon, 1 normal summon (max 3)

Level 36-44 2 !fail summon, 2 normal summon (max 4)

Level 45-50 2 !fail summon, 3 normal summon (max 5)

This gives the low level shaman some guaranteed spirits but not overpowered. It gives the higher level shaman more tries at it as well.

I do have to say that I rarely fail summon and rarely use all 3 unless we are fighting paracs. Then I use all three and then die a lot :>)

I'll see about upping the chance to summon. It's been tweaked several times before, but perhaps it needs an extra nudge. :)

I don't think you really need to Shevy. My pleveled 48 shaman fails maybe 1/9 times. Keep in mind Cifle is only 46 and pleveled as well. Just give us more summons as we go up.
It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

I'd rather have 1-2 more summon tries then doing something about the fail rate.
I dont remember last time I failed a summon.

bah quitcher whinin. Gulraex has failed the last nine that I have tried. So I get to wait even longer before I can contiunue with the dreaded exp. I find that sucking it up and dealing with it makes it better for yourself in the long run.

I was thinking, since spirits are a core part of being a shaman, as it stands you can only summon 3 spirits in 2.8 hours. First, what's the underlying reason for only being able to summon 3 in that amount of time? Since they are somewhat buffer than mentals, maybe up the chances to try to say 6. That'll give a spirit every 28 minutes if you luck out and get all of them.

Or.... Say I log on and summon a spirit on the third try. 3 hours later it dies for some freak reason. Now, I can't summon another spirit for another 2.8 hours on top of that. Maybe have it so that after each summon, the timer is reset to count down a week, so that if I'm successful on my 3rd attempt, and the spirit lasts 3 hours then dies, it's been more than a week, why can't I summon another? Ya following? Cuz I'm not!

Hell, just make it a skill like assassinate or other timed stuff. You can use it once every 30 minutes.

Bah hah! Gulraex just made level 23 last night!
Solo to 40+ is not an option for me because i am only partially uber in the eq department :P But reguardless of level, its all about the skillz baby. If I were uber or if I were pleveled to 40 in a weeks time I would still have the same issues with summoning. Like I said...I am gonna suck it up because I am getting my levels back the hard way....sort of...I mean I ain't got a set of noob gear here but I ain't got the greatest stuff in the world either so it just takes time, as does most things.

Moo on you by the way. 8)

Being a n00b summoner, level 21, I just failed summoning a pet 3x in a row. That means no pet for me for about 3hrs real time. I know the summon spirit has been tweaked and all, but heard this applies mostly to high level players. It is ridiculious that I can't even use a pet because I can't summon one. I know my skill is low and all, but we should at least be able to summon 1 out of 3 chances.

Welcome to the land of frustration. It did get tweaked and i'm pretty happy with the changes. But, with the changes done, I could see how low lvlers are gonna still get screwed. It would be nice if they changed it to where the skill only matters for the spirit hps rather than hps and chance to summon like ele's have. If you wan't real pets, make a mentalist. Shamans are still cooler though.

Yeah, now that I have a new elementalist going I can see where it would sorta suck to be a shaman who can only summon 3 in a set amount of time if an elementalist can just spend a couple of seconds memming conjure elemental, cast said spell and voila, new pet with new hp's, etc. I know it can be argued that shaman pets are better than elementalist pets but elementalists are a little more well-rounded in my completely biased opinion. So help the cripped shaman class! :P

Chuckle crippled shaman class.

You must be spending your zoning time with cifle and his/her Elk.

I mean really an Elk? What, they didn't have the water buffalo available when you turned in your jewel?

Was the muskrat too powerful for yah?

ROFL

Shaman Spirits own elementals.

That would suck when his tiger shows up, ready to rumble, and your elk stands on the other side and says "No way in hell" all three times.
