MCCP Compression

Postby Shevarash » Sun May 18, 2003 8:51 pm

Added MCCP compression to the MUD to reduce our bandwidth usage. While only zMUD 6.x supports this protocol, all other clients should connect normally. This is a compltely transparent change to players, you do not have to do anything :)

However, if you experience problems with it or can't connect to the MUD, please post here, and include your client, client version, and OS.

Thanks!

Should older client users of zMUD upgrade then? :-)

I'm using 6.62 (Idiot, yeah) so I won't worry but concerned about the other mudders out there...

MUD is up...the DNS has propagated early though, try the IP if you're having trouble:

I connect, but, nothing happens after I connect. I'm using gMUDix 0.10 on RedHat 9.0. I've got the source code if you can tell me what kind of hand shaking it requires.

Eilorn.
Now, we can do this the hard way, or... well, actually there's just the hard way.

They won't be affected at all by this. However, the more people who use a compression-compatible client, the less bandwidth we will use, which is all around good for everyone. :)
