"Anthony Mundine came of age, winning the vacant World Boxing Association super middle weight title with a unanimous points decision over American Antwun Echols at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
"The Man" played the role of matador to Echols' bull to perfection on Wednesday evening, frequently scoring with his left jab and crisp right hand."
Mundine has certainly had a colourful time in the media spotlight since taking up boxing, I don't particularly like him, and would love to have seen him get smashed by Echols last night, but I still respect his aussie battler type heart.
Mundine did not win the fight last night imo, he grabbed and held Echols many times, he dodged and evaded Echols many times. He did score a lot of good punches on him, but I think all the grabbing should have been penalized somehow.
Then again, defence and strategy is all a part of boxing, so in a way he won the title regardless.
A bit dissapointing overall the bout was I thought still.
