Healing Swords

Well after shev gave me that nasty cocktease last night, it got me thinking about healing weapons. Then I got to play with that scimitar, and realized that evil aligned warriors are the only melee class that can't get a weapon that heals them. Every other melee class can wield a self healing weapon, except evil aligned warriors. So how about you give me avernus?:) Not that wussy arex the great bullshit either, like the real deal red 'n' black Avernus, the life stealer. I think that would be fair.

But seriously how come only evil warriors aren't allowed to heal themselves with a weapon? And no, tiamat scepter does not count because we can't go get them, and tiamat was out of the game before I started playing this wipe. Is it on purpose, or just how everything worked out? Can we get a little self-healing love?:(

Thanuk, we already have self healing.

Beach in WD! However, it's a shame we have to lay in seagull shit and old blood to get some hitpoints...

Uhm. . . lets clarify:

Proc Heal weapon: Avenger

Proc glorified cure crit: Musp scimitar / Valhalla.

Heal heals 100 hps.

Cure crit does about 33

Valhalla heals 50 hps per instance, nonvamp (boo! hiss!)

Scimitar heals 1/2 the damage you inflict on an attack (give or take) so for most warriors that would be about 12-25 hps. (really cool proc. . but for an epic I'd change that to the exact damage you do when you hit. Would help more with the proc frequency and the fact that all those procs at full don't help ;)

And with the latest change, just fyi. Heal doesn't do 90-100hp heals with avenger anymore. like 35-40 now.

Umm your avenger must be broken, I'm getting healed for 90 hp. Must be leveled based now.

healing proc for deathknell is level based too now I believe. (much better)

Just to confirm...the heal for the avenger is level based.

Avenger heal isn't strictly level based, but it is based off a level dependant factor for paladins.

Unholy avenger heal has been based offa level for over a year.. not something new.

Well hopefully there will be an evil warrior usable weapon that heals the person who wields it with a proc, and then i can consider this thread a success!:)

my $.02 is remove most of the self healing weapons. as it is right now, holy/unholy are basically the only reasons (besides rp) to play a paladin or anti. there should be VERY VERY few procs that heal the wielder. this whole "balance" thing we've been striving for is going to be altered if we keep on down this road.

Valhalla scepter being the only viable exception imho, and skip the life-stealer avernus it will just make evil warriors antipaladins for the mostpart, but with more hp.

and i again say strip non damage spell effects from weapons... maybe tone that down to enemy targeted detrimental spell effects from melee class weapons.

the most frightening thing is where healing weapons used to be rare to non existent to artifact status, they are not available as thanuk says for everyone except evil warriors.

are you fighters or casters with pointy wands?

im sure im in the minority that thinks this is a problem.

I don't mind if healing was removed from all weapons. Of course, (un)holy avengers may need a little bit of tweaking if they lose it, but that's no problem.

Sounds good to me. That coupled with the hp downgrade would make casters reliant on melee to prevent spells which would be a strong niche.

I agree! I do know what thanuk is saying though. Why make evil warriors the outcasts? Goodies used to have not as good eq to wear, but that has changed. The only thing that hasn't changed is the healing sword crap.

Honestly though, I'd like to see more nice damage procs on weapons, leave the healing swords to anti's/pallys to give people a reason to play them over warriors, remove stun from 99% of spells, lower damage on caster classes except invokers, lessen the amount of area spells (i.e. give a class 1 area spell, then put it in a slot that would make them drop like a gheal or fheal or something), put in the fix for melee, make rangers out hit rogues or switch trip from rogue to ranger, um..that's all I can think of for now...oh yeah, take out sil person and put in sil room and just keep feeb.
