What was your favorite childhood cartoon?

Postby Gindipple » Tue Dec 04, 2001 9:03 pm

Or for you youngins what "IS" it

Mine has to be Speed Racer.
I loved the way they made his face look when he was serious about a race.

Ultraman and Giant Robot would tie for my second favorites.

I love cartoons.

Transformers rule.
Gotta love Scooby Doo, too. I had the hugest crush on Daphne Image
Quickdraw McGraw and El Kabong are also two of my favorites.
Tom and Jerry, however, win just by a smidge.
Of the current cartoons out there (the non anime ones), I really dig Dexter's Laboratory.

Yeah!

Tom and jerry
is tied with
Dungeons and Dragons
and
Superfriends... Wondertwins, ACTIVATE! hehehehehehe.

course, my parents never let me watch either... they thought tom and jerry was too violent, then they thought dungeons and dragons was a cult that would make me kill myself....

Nitania- happy childhood memories.

Yeah, Kiryan... that was indeed Pole Position, loosely based on the arcade game.

Lion Voltron is way up there on my list for sure. Let's see... what else...

Fat Albert, Inspector Gadget, Super Friends... there's tons more I loved to watch, but I can't remember 'em all.

Definitely Smurfs! Of course, if you watched cartoon network, you'd Know that they are green, not blue. Every tv in the world has been screwed up for years!

Liked the laugh olympics. I was always rooting for the really rottens.

Liked Transformers and G.I. Joe. Always rooted for the decepticons and Cobra.

Liked Kidd Video. Always rooted for the copy cats.

oh, and now I like dexter and powerpuff girls.

(OOOH scary stuff. after I posted on this thread, I started to wax nostalgic, so I looked up a kidd video site. What I found was that glitter (the little fairy who helped Kidd Video), is now the voice for blossom on powerpuff girls. Which begs the question, do I really LIKE the powerpuff girls, or is it a pavlovian response?

Heh, showing my age here... and wondering how old Cardolan is now.

The Archies, Josie and the Pussycats, Thundarr the Barbarian and the original Scooby Doo. For non-animated Saturday morning shows, I was all about The Bugaloos and that old show with all the living hats, Lidsville, or whatever it was called.

My all-time favorites weren't the typical cartoons, though... every Saturday morning I crossed my fingers in the hope that I'd get to see an episode of Schoolhouse Rock.

Well you know you are in trouble when you can remember the words to the spells to turn off and on the magic porriage pot in the smurfs, or the spell to remove the enchantment from a magical needle, or the spell to reverse the hair growning spell gargamel cast on himself.

"Little magic porridge pot, make some porridge nice and hot." , "Little magic porridge pot, no more porridge thanks alot."

"Needle needle in the hay, may your powers smurf away"

"Chillie bean chillie bean, listen to my plea, chillie bean chillie bean set me free."

So yeah, smurfs

other favorites were, voltron, thundercats, centurions, thundarr the barbarian, the Herculoids, space ghost,Snorks, ducktales, tailspin, fantastic 4, wonder twins, and the list goes on. Thank god you didnt ask about anime.

Gi Joe and Transformers were probably my favorites. Also The Real Ghostbusters was pretty good. Then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I got a little older... heh.

Now my favorite is Dragon Ball Z... but I also like Batman Beyond, Dexters Lab, and Johnny Bravo. Haven't seen enough of X-men: Evolution or the new Justice League to really make a decision on them yet. Oh yeah, and Samurai Jack, The Simpsons, Futurama. Bleh, I watch too much TV... most of it cartoons apparently. Image

Thundercats/He-man/GI-Joe/Dungeons and Dragons/

I watched those probably the most..

Here is one that I am wondering if anyone remembers...

Captain Power? With the interactive toys that allowed you to shoot light beams at the screen from your space ship and score points or whatever..they had a whole line of toys.
Was a cool Idea I always wanted GI Joe to Switch to that format LOL

Yep. your ship/gun kept score for you. My friend had one. That show wasn't on for very long.

I imagine we could've taped the show, but hey, I was young.

Voltron still owns almost any kids cartoon.

The new transformers is f'in lame, japanized crap.

I'm so tired of cartoons having to say what laser or attack they are doing, JUST F'IN DO IT.

So yeah, that's where I stand Image

YOU GUYS!

I can't believe no one said superfriends!

SUPERFRIENDS!

Because as soon as superman or wonder woman got boring, all the sudden you would get green lantern or that black thunder guy...what was he called? He could throw the lightning bolts?

Damn, haven't thought about this stuff in ages. I also was a hardcore GI-Joe, Voltron, Transformers (o/~ more than meets the eye! o/~) fan.

Of course everyone saw the Beholder episode of dungeons and dragons...

Cool topic guys.

Land of the Lost, Shazam, Isis, Dr. Shrink... of course I remember them!!! Dr. Shrink and his little sidekick who really wasn't such a bad guy after all. Land of the Lost ruled, I used to pretend I had little colored rocks I could toss together and make big explosions all the time! ::nod me:: My favorite episode was when the daughter's future counterpart came back to help... it actually gave me hope that I could grow up to be a blonde bombshell too.

Bionics...ON!

I can't believe no one mentioned....

Beavis & Butt-head!

Whoa! Heheh hehehehehe! Hey Butt-head, check out my butt!
Hey Beavis, remember that time you got your thingie stuck in that bowling ball?

I also can't believe that no one mentioned...

Super Mario Brothers! :P

But what scares me the most is that no one ever mentioned Looney Tunes or Disney cartoons! I can't remember how many times I laughed my ass off at Donald Duck or Wile E. Coyote (Supergenius)!

For all you sleestack fans out there, there are LOTL resources on the web. Want to learn to speak like chaka? You can do that too.

One of the cool things about the show, a linguist was contracted to invent chaka's language. Cool stuff.

My roommate gave me this CD for my last birthday... It's a bunch of 90's musicians covering old cartoon show theme songs. It has Collective Soul covering "The Bugaloos", Dig covers "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids", Juliana Hatfield and Tanya Donnelly with "Josie and the Pussycats" (Mmmmmm, Josie). Matthew Sweet does a nifty job with "Scooby Doo". All in all a damn fine CD.

The Buggs Bunny/Roadrunner Show, 90 minutes of solid Loony Toons

Scooby Doo, the best drug cartoon ever made

Speed Buggy, see Scooby Doo, but Scooby's character is played by a 60's dune buggy

Rocky and Bullwinkle- "Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit outa my hat... nothin up mu sleeve... *ROAR*... OOhh, Must've been the wrong hat."

The Tick- "I'm doing Laundry!"

The Maxx- "Why do these things always happen just after I've finished supergluing my claws together..... CRAP!"

On a non-cartoon note---

LOTL rocked!

3 Stooges- "Hey MO!"

Little Rascals, even though I was often mistaken for Alphalpha as a kid.

Toplack "Why is everyone staring at me... I'm thinking out loud again aren't I.... CRAP!" Frostbear

G-Force, Danger Mouse, This show that was only on a couple of time called 'the tom foolery show', Star Blazers, Gummi Bears, Roger Ramjet! (especially the solonoid robots)

Hmmm i really liked this show that had a little girl and a dog that went to a diferent time where there were all these little black robots with mushroom shaped heads. There was a white one called 'white wriggler' and the bad overlord person would always say to him 'you are the loweset of the low of the low'.....ring any bells?

Yeah, it's not a cartoon-- but Night Court was my favorite show ever as a very young child. Image Moonlighting came in a close second, though...
