Does it filter or check for something? This bbs is the slowest to post, refresh, and have to log in numerous times. I'm not sure what gives. The little :P :) etc don't work either.

It generally takes about 20+ seconds to post, edit, etc. Should this be happening?

I don't have that problem... is this the only forum that works slowly for you?

I notice the same thing, from multiple posting locations. Browsing is ok, but posting takes me a good 15 seconds.

Well, I thought it might be an issue with the dyndns lookup if some of you are using that instead of the normal url, however I just tried it a couple times and it literally flies. Longest post was an edit at just over 4 seconds.

Hrm... have you guys done any tracerts to see if there's a hangup in the path?

The longer the post, the longer it takes TO post.

Some of us write longer posts than others...

There should really be no noticeable difference between someone posting a two line post, and someone writing a full page.

Keep in mind I said noticeable. I find that my posts on here from home, and work both take a good 5-10 seconds to go through. Same with Jennifers PC when she posts. I don't think it's any big deal mind you, but there is a lag.

Lilira:

I'm not exactly known for short posts you know. ;)

Think about it though, does it take appreciably longer on a fast connection for a room to load if it has a long description instead of a short one? I've never noticed a difference unless I was having pretty bad lag... even when I've been forced to use a modem. *shudder*

I wonder though... how many of the people complaining about a slow connection are on the west coast? The server's on the east coast isn't it? Maybe it's just because you are further away...

EDIT: Hrm... that one took 13 secs...

EDIT2:

Posting can be a little slow. I attribute it to having a fairly large database of posts since we haven't really deleted much since this board went up.

And the smilies are turned off, mostly because they vex me. They vex me mightily.

Sorry Sarvis.. that was me being a smarta$$

It does happen. Sorry to disillusion everyone, yet even I can succumb. *wink*

It habitually takes me anywhere from 7 to 10 seconds for a short post to go up. Usually longer if its a story I'm putting up. (Habitually 5 pages, 1" margins and 12pt. Arial on my story posts.) I'm in Alabama btw. First one to call me a redneck goes on my "whoops I MEANT to sing heal" list. *tease*

The only one who can answer where the server is located declined to comment. *grin*

TTFN, off to put groceries away.. god its hot.

I thought that would make you nuts sok, only one post per 10 seconds? It isn't enough for Thilendel, is he a more prolific poster than even the mighty sok? What a sad day for Sokdom....

The same society that doesn't like when forced to wait half an hour for a simple fast food order. Stare at a blank wall for ten seconds, and it will seem a lot longer. I promise.
