WoW?

Postby Nurpy Fuzzyfeet » Mon Jan 30, 2006 1:34 am

Who here plays WoW and whats the best server to play on?

Getting DirecWay satellite internet, so it opens up my avenues as far as online gaming goes. Besides the game, what do you need to get started?

I doubt I'd play on an RP server....

Also, I was reading the system requirements and umm...is it really needed to have a gig of ram to play well? I mean, damn, that's harsh. My laptop most likely is only going to have about 512 ddr ram.

Plus I'd need to invest in a new video card too, which is like $200 minimum, so it looks like this is going to be a pretty expensive game.

I hope I like it..

I play on Cenarion Circle (rp) and Frostmane (pvp).

I play from my laptop with 256megs of ram (and a nice 3d card). Works fine with graphics set to low, but I don't ooh and ahh over the scenery very much.

I recommend playing horde if you like pvp, and alliance otherwise. Horde is underpopulated, meaning less waiting for battlegrounds and more waiting for raids.

You will have 350+ hours of fun just enjoying the content they've assembled as you level up... it's a blast. Only at max lvl will the above choice become super important.

Nurpy, be careful with playing MMORPG's with direcway

direcway as all sat isp's go have a 1/2 second delay in thier relay.

meaning you see things slower than others will see them. you will get owned if you do pvp with a direcway connection.

Also direcway has a bandwidth restriction, with the basic play you are allowed 200 mb per 4 hours, if this limit is reached, your connection is reduced to that of a really good dialup (still bad)

You might want to check the package you buy and make sure that you can play an mmorpg with it. Also post the specs of the package you are looking at buying in this thread.

Retail Kif. :-) Amazon.com has a nice price on it. Also the more you pay for monthly (ie. a year subscription) the better overall price you get, but you get I think 30 days with the game.

I'm currently playing on Auchindoun (PvP) on the Horde side. This server opened with the release of Burning Crusade, so a bunch of friends and I rerolled on this new server.

Talsor and his guild were on the server too, but they transferred off due to Horde:Alliance imbalance shortly after they hit 70.

Tree buff is horrible. 25% of spirit to healing taken? The hot isn't that great when you bring 3 paladins and are chain chugging pots. You need more shamans for dps maxing and 25% armor buff. What is your guild on?

Lol 25% of 500 is nice +heal addition. The hot is the most efficient heal in the game, I have innervate that gets me full mana... As of now, we're in SSC and TK... we've, at the most 2 shotted every boss we've tried so far. The guild just formed like 1.5 months ago.

Lol, riiiiight. Tree buff > totems. Renewable HoT doing 3k + every 6 seconds for 120 mana... Seriously... What's next, lightwell is the game breaker?

Tree buff is horrible. 25% of spirit to healing taken? The hot isn't that great when you bring 3 paladins and are chain chugging pots. You need more shamans for dps maxing and 25% armor buff. What is your guild on?

Lol 25% of 500 is nice +heal addition. The hot is the most efficient heal in the game, I have innervate that gets me full mana... As of now, we're in SSC and TK... we've, at the most 2 shotted every boss we've tried so far. The guild just formed like 1.5 months ago.

Not worth it. The efficiency isn't worth breaking the 4 paladin 1 holy priest 2 shaman (switch a paladin for a shaman if you want) synergy. You're better off having 2 well-geared feral druids who can switch between dps or tanking depending on the encounter. There's no fight where you need efficient heals that a shaman or paladin can't already do. Using more shamans/paladins = more dps.
It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

What's Korgath like server wise? Which one did you come from beforehand?

I'm assuming it is, so I haven't even bothered trying.

You can. Problems come up in major towns during peak, and when running Vent/Ts your voice will be very choppy.

The server isn't that great for ping. It's somewhere in central. Progression-wise I think 3 alliance guilds and 2 horde are in BT. We have Drama, Death and Taxes, and Overrated on this server who are at the bleeding edge of content.

I was previously with Fires of Heaven on Black-Dragonflight with Sarkhon (who quit to live irl June '06), but I left for Overrated last March due to personal reasons.
