Music and zones (rehashed)

Postby Saitcho » Tue Feb 06, 2001 5:54 am

ok, this topic was brought up a while back on the turning point when soj2 was still up, but anyway, it was a fun topic. what music did you guys listen to when you mudded, or what songs did you associate with certain zones? i have a few songs that just go hand in hand with certain zones....

hell - danzig! devil's plaything
skertdd gul - pink floyd's shine on you crazy diamond
jot - jethro tull, thick as a brick (picture a little party trouncing around the hills of ysgard, smacking down ice giants in a jovial manner

so anyway... what music did YOU listen to while mudding

Metallica, Jump in the Fire, on the Ancient Red Dragons before Tiamat and later the ton of young reds added to the pool room.

Any Hammerfall/Blind Guardian for Jot.

Mwahahah! My three year old topic lives again! Yes, thats right, I was the originator of the Music of the Zones thread on s2. Anyhoot, my original point of was podville. That zone had "Amish Paradise" written all over it. Also, I think I remember that I pegged WD with "You belong to the city" That's right, all you rats who stayes there for four hrs straight doing NOTHING, this means you.

Eek...now this makes me remember what I would listen to when I was doing skill practice....

1h misc - Devo -- Whip It
dragonpunch - Prodigy -- Smack My Bitch Up
springleap - Primus -- My Name is Mud
kick - Carl Douglas -- Kung-Fu Fighting

And zones....

Demiplane - Metallica -- Master of Puppets
Pre-tia Dragons - Black Sabbath -- Children of the Grave (On Sunday it was U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday)
Tiamat herself - Fear Factory -- Remanufacture
Jot - The Offspring -- Come Out and Play
BS exp - Ozzy Osbourne -- Crazy Train (which would change to Voices by Disturbed if I did BS exp anytime soon :P)
Astral - Dune -- Million Miles From Home
Gith - Pantera -- Mouth For War
CC - White Zombie -- More Human than Human

That's all I can remember right now, I know there were some others hehe.

I didnt really associate any particular music with a certain zone (well, i might have but i dont remember) though i found that NIN or the soundtrack from Ghost in the Shell are fairly appropriate

So i'm bored at work and idling through some mp3's, and a lot of them reminded me of sojourn zones/situations..

Wacking any Palydork: Dio-Holy Diver

Traveling by ship to pillage Moonshaes: Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song

Getting charmed by Succubus: Boy George - Crying Game

After getting spanked: Ebba Grön - Beväpna Er! (With inserting mobname in lyric)

3W: Eagles - Hotel California Image

Well i always found it was best to sit back and get a big wad o redman in your gums, and den turn on your honkey tonk music. Ya know nuttin goes better than wackin jotenheim, with a wad o redman listening to some fiddle playin, foot stompin, harmonica flyin, banjo pickin, couzin stickin hoe down music.

And When i go to a sad place, like bloodstone for example, i feel the need for a luke warm tear soaked flat beer. And nuttin goes better with that than ole possum. You know who ole possum is dontcha, mr george jones. YEESS SIRREE nuttin goes better with bloodstone than steel guitar blarin, tears on my face swellin, heart breakin, head shakin, nose runnin, country sad songs.

Nothing beat putting on metallica and running around with Mogr...usually in rhemos was where we did it. I remember looping Tool songs with Touk for invasion runs. And you an sorta count watching South Park the movie simultaneaously with Silverast and quoting the whole thign in gsays and yelling all the songs. manscorps was where that ende dup usually.

Wow. Neat topic. Made me try and remember what the hell I listened to in college while mudding.

Like Cir said in his earlier post, I never really associated specefic songs to zones, but did mud alot to the same music.

Here is some of what I listend to quite a bit. . .

NIN - The Downward Spiral
RAtM - Rage Against the Machine
Enigma - Cross of Changes
Depeche Mode - 101
Orb - UF Orb

I am pretty certain though that most of the times Jot was done to NIN.

Ya know. . .March of the Pigs, Hurt, Big Man with a Gun, Mr. Self Destruct. I guess that explains some of those trips. Muhahahaha!

I have two different genres I listen to while mudding. Classical (which those of you music majors know really means everything from the renaissance to late romantic period) or I listen to hard rock, such as Tool, Korn, etc...

It's perfect if you listen to Mozart's requiem mass (a mass for the dead) while doing man scorps, or invasion. If you hit the hive king, or glammad during the 3rd movement (REX! Rex tremandae) King, great king, etc...It's pretty kickass.

Here are 3 samples from mozart's requiem:

http://webpages.charter.net/wobb/mp3/diesilla.mp3
http://webpages.charter.net/wobb/mp3/rex.mp3

If you ever do nizari, I recommend the second track off of "Dead Can Dance"'s "Into the Labyrinth" CD titled "The ubiquitos mr. lovegrove"...it starts out and continues with very eastern sounding music (non-western scales etc..) and instruments from the likes if Inida such as the Tubla (forgot how to spell it) bigass drum with a big low beat. When you hit the sphinx gate and hear what sounds like a snake charmer's flute, it's perfect.

Here is a 1 minute sample: http://webpages.charter.net/wobb/mp3/nizari2.mp3

Enjoy
(always love feedback on music lemme know what you think about these while playing)
