Sorry, I probably should have said Moment of Zen for mostly conservatives, most independents, and a minority of democrats.
I know there's a couple of you for which this thread doesn't really give you inner peace.

Re: Moment of Zen: This War Is Lost
I am just curious, and also sadly unaware of something obvious.
Is it good or bad that someone has the oppinion that the war is lost?
Why is it good or bad?
What is the general difference between a conservative listening to someone with that oppinion contra a democrat listening to someone with that oppinion.
I just want to understand the dilemma in this thread. Just a brief background would be cool.

Conservatives believe that anyone who doesn't unflinchingly support George Bush, the Afghanistan War, the Iraq War, or the military is anti-American and guilty of treason. To a conservative, admitting that America is doing anything except Winning The War 100% is akin to blasphemy.

Now, take what Ragorn said, Disoputlip, and put it through a filter to get a better and more honest idea.

I'm a conservative and I didn't believe any of that.

I stated this thread to aggressively discredit a major Democrat party leader that was completely, 100% wrong, and caught talking out of his ass with his pants around his ankles while imploring you to just "look at the facts."
America, these are your elected leaders.
Re: Moment of Zen: This War Is Lost
I believe that it is almost impossible to win a war if leadership shows any sign of weakness. . .it emboldens the enemy to wait us out and it hurts morale of our own trooops.
I believe that is why the Bush administration always refused to talk about timetables for withdrawl - it gives the enemy a clearly defined goal. I also believe that is why you have seen the Obama administration mostly follow suit after the election.
