Instead of spamming area spells (any area spell). Make it so you can target with area spells, so the main target receives more a buff or dmg done.
Say like how disruption burst works. It does more dmg to the target you specify. If other area spells did this, would add a layer of gameplay to the mix, instead of just spamming the spell with no target.
Same with GroupHeal, it would add a layer of gameplay to Shaman, instead of brain dead GH spamming. Main target gets more hp, rest get a lower rate or what it is now.
With Powers, I think this ability is already there. Just need to change the modifier, so it applies.
Simple change, yet adds some minor gameplay complexity to your area spam. One could still just spam without target, but then you miss out slightly or it defaults target to you.

I thought all area spells already worked like that?
The new powers version of area spells work exactly like that. Most of them have very large radii, but there are some that are a bit smaller. See Fireball for an example. Power spells also support a "disperse" value that controls how the damage is split up on the targets. It can do the damage equally to all targets, focus on the target with a small amount of splash damage, or subtract increasing amounts of damage depending on how far away the recipient is from the caster's target.
