Ok, since the tanking downgrades I've only been on this week, but it seems that the chance to successfully shieldblock is really lowered a lot.

I'd post a log, but that would just be spammy. Suffice to say that while doing DK vault, all the fights I blocked only 2 or 3 attacks with my shield, while there were 30 rounds with 4-6 attacks each against me every fight. All rounds went pretty much like this

i agree though. if not for my ebony ls i couldnt tank anything that conned perfect match starting at level 18 without enchanter AND healer.

i agree the game should be group oriented, but by making it primarly group oriented some of the folks on the evil side are relegated to staring at the ravenar fountain till such time as the only cleric playing that day logs on.

warriors should be able to solo with the gear i got. 29/23 -97ac without armor potion and all skills maxed for the level. mobs that are 4-5 levels lower beat the crap out of me.

i think this fixed 'bug' was a bit extreme. tune it up a tad please.

hmm, i thought i wasnt blocking as often anymore, but i also was leveling pretty fast and attributed it to higher level mobs.

Its PATHETIC as a 50th level warrior when i lose 1/2 my life to a 35th level warrior with -60 ac and 1 off from maxed defensive skills, takes 1/3rd to 1/2 my life. Ive said this over and over to the gods...

What else are we supposed to do?

As a cleric, I've definately noticed that warrior shieldblock isn't firing very much.
In fact there were several occsions I had to check with the warrior becuse I didn't think they were using a shield.

You know, that's exactly what I was doing last night? Going "wtf did I lose my shield?!" and typing eq just to make sure, then boggling because I did have it on.

I know that from the beginning of closed alpha, shieldblock was triggering FAR too often, especially compared to other warrior skills. Throughout the alpha a few tweaks were made but the problem was never really solved completely... often a mob with a shield would shieldblock 50% of incoming attacks, while never dodging or parrying. When it lost the shield it would use its other warrior skills normally. This didn't apply to players, but it does indicate that something was whacked with the code.

Not having a warrior I don't know what's up with it now. I'm wondering if something finally clicked in the code and shieldblock took a large nerf.

shieldblock took a HUGE NERF

to give you some idea.
tanking wizzies on ms. me with shield get off shieldblock every 8 or 9 rounds. i got hurt. our dual wieldilng drow warrior rescued me and finished fight from mob small wounds and almost never got hit.


shieldblock is no longer a factor in tanking. that's how bad it is. means i can zone with flammey instead of shield now.

Hey just to let you know you are not alone Cherzra, when I did paddy fight in brass I landed 1 shieldblock the entire battle, I think that might have been part of the reason I had to get a fullheal every other round or I died, and I was only tanking 2 mobs :P.

I wholeheartedly agree cherzra. I dont use shield in zones unless the zone leader asks me too, because the last 2 zone trips it actually worked 10 times the whole zone... (jot, brass).

I say tie shields in with riposte. just makes sense to me. atm shields are used way more for offensive applications then defensive...holy crap an enemy! i better fling my huge shield at it rather then use it to save myself!

It's obvious warriors need a high percentage of shieldblock working, it was one of the main factors we set out in the warrior vs. paladin thread.

Did I miss it, or did shieldblock not fire once in there?

Cherzra seemed to land 3 shieldblocks in that log.
Seems to be a tad too few, perhaps, considering the amount of hits against her and that her related skills are prolly maxed.

I have also noticed shieldblock seems to land a bit less frequently than I had expected in some fights.

Maybe needs looking into sometime.

If its too easy, do things yourself to make it harder, if its too hard, talk to the people who think its too easy and have em teach ya a few things.
