Show Me Yours

Postby Ashiwi » Mon Aug 26, 2002 7:16 pm

I've always enjoyed writing and upon occasion sit down and write some really bad poetry. I'd love to see some of the poetry which I know you people have to be writing when the muse strikes. Not epic poems, those should go in their own threads, but short verses which just take hold of you at odd moments. I'll start with two of mine!! They're the most recent, and from the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Nice one...

Deep within the dream I bide
The shadow of you lying near
That I may feel you at my side
And hear your whispers in my ear

The depth of dreaming knows no bounds
Your hand but an ephemeral trace
Echoes call without a sound
And dance in haunting sweet embrace

Hushed winds at night my cheek caress
Imagined arms, they draw me in
To feel you hard against me press
And tease my senses once again

Now lost I fall and tarry there
Within the streams of your desire
It pulls me thus, I know not where
Awash in dreams this love inspired

Not so nice one...

In depth of dread on jangled night
Seraphim still their winged flight
Soundless urgings stroke my plight

Footfall tread on hallowed ground
Whispers colliding all around
Heart and mind and breath all bound

Terror strains at sanity's door
A thousand prayers left unimplored
Promises made forevermore

Bladed truth sprouts from wicked lies
When hope for dawn and dreaming dies
And Panic his dark dagger plies

A friend on LiveJournal posted about a newsletter of writing - but there was a twist. Everything had to be 62 words, no more or less. Here's what I had come up with.

Phoenix

After all that had come before, she couldn't believe life could change, so fast and sure. Never before had there been a reason to live.

The Panthers wouldn't find her here. She'd been clean for months now. The air was clean, the work hard but important.

"Who was born that day," she murmured to the baby nuzzling her shoulder, "You, or me?"

An old one from last year.

Disquiet settles upon me. Her world is becoming mine.

Terror and disaster are/were around the corner
They really are out to get you
Aren't you glad you learned how to be paranoid?

Hindsight is 20/20 if you look hard enough,
And you look hard enough
Hard. Enough.
Find the truth now so next time you wield the knife.

Look hard and think, find the answers,
Correlate, calculate, theorize and reject
The truth is out there, the truth is in here
We'll find it…

I reach for my soykaf…

And discover it's tea.

Angels have but light to bleed,
no blood to call their own.

When angels die their light reborn,
but the fallen make darkness grow.

A rather haphazard piece I wrote several years ago. Engineer + poetry = bad.

warm winter evening no
reason to be awake
open window breeze and
thinking too hard I hear
frightening silence
source is unknown I have
this feeling something’s wrong
get a message can you
talk a while
throw on some shoes
one in the morning I
head out into moonlight
walking and wondering
how much I love her
pacing in the hallway
lights off hiding
sad eyes so I sit
and we talk a while
owing her that much
no a thousand times more
but no answers
nothing more to do but
hold her close promising
everything will be fine
warm winter breezes
lifting up happiness
through that open window
waiting for the right
moment to come rushing in
with a gentle kiss
and another promise
tuck her in and
head back into the night
moonlight still sifting
through high clouds
walk a little longer
wondering about dreams
always remembering
how much I love her

One of those "Let's read some posts!" random days, and I came across Ashiwi's poetry stuff. *shrug* Haven't "found my muse" in a while, elusive she is. Anyway, enjoy.

How could I have not known?
How could I have not cared?
My thoughts, broken fragments;
My feelings went unshared.

Nothing is quite the same,
I wander around, lost.
Life seems so difficult -
If I only knew the pain you cost.

Time holds no meaning now,
I don't even notice the days.
The years fall through my mind,
I'm trapped in this unending maze.

Longing for those happy times
Now gone - a thing of the past.
I was too young to understand
That forever with you wouldn't last.

Just being around you, things are always fun
Dark days lightened up, and bright days got brighter-
It didn't matter if we were under the moon or the sun.
When I'm with you I swear I feel lighter.

Always watching your movement, your actions, your face
Memorizing every single detail in my heart.
cherishing the times we held each other in a sweet embrace-
You're more beautiful than the finest work of art.

Thoughts of you are always on my mind,
I can't seem to concentrate on anything at all
The words to describe my love are hard to find.
You're my Guardian Angel when I'm about to fall.

I always seem to lean to the morbid, this is a disturbing short piece.

I always liked to toy with your fingers,
While you slept.
Little bones
I think I could break you.

heres another,

I've crawled up this pile of broken glass
To make you see
Blinders on, eyes closed
I've slid down this mound of broken glass
but you don't see me

Another one of my pieces from high school. Writing this made me truly appreciate the genius of people like Edgar Allan Poe, as I had to stretch to make some of these rhymes fit.

3nj0y.

Return of the Raven

I present to you this story, nothing shy of grim and gory,
How the raven in his glory came back to my chamber door.
Evening starlight gently dusted o'er the evening dark and rusted
As I quietly longed and lusted for my angel called Lenore,
Longed for the departed damsel known to all as my Lenore,
Lost to me forevermore.

Now you may not find this fitting, thinking that the bird, not flitting,
Still is here and softly sitting just above my chamber door.
But that oft accursed deadly bird had long since gone and fled me,
Leaving me believing that his subtle shadow floated o'er,
But the bust of Pallas sat there, silent as she was before.
Only bust, and nothing more.

Darkness to conceal my weeping, darkness all around me creeping
Save the sudden clatter seeping from the evening's chilly store.
Curious now as to the bustle, opening curtains with a rustle,
Upward came my previous tussle, Raven from the distant shore,
Bird that set my soul to bleeding in a tale you've read before.
Bird with name of Nevermore.

"Bird," said I, "art thou the feather who, on call of stormy weather
Rose up from the windy heather just to sit above my door?"
Though he gave the look of knowing what my query would be showing,
Burning eyes like embers glowing pierced my presence to the core
And a heart that once was hopeful shattered hard upon the floor
When he uttered, "Nevermore."

"Heinous bird!" I sputtered, shrieking, "what misfortune art thou wreaking,
Flying here and cruelly seeking solace at my chamber door?"
While my sanity was straying, calm no longer was delaying
As I heard the raven saying, "I have found your lost Lenore.
Follow hence and I will lead thee to thy lovely lost Lenore,
Lest I stay here evermore."

Such surprise I was not hearing, such a sound that left me blearing,
Fire of doubt within me searing hot as Hell's infernal core.
All my soul within me dying as I hastened to replying,
"Evil bird, now take to flying. Take me to my lost Lenore.
Yet a bird found to be lying shall be found dead on the floor!"
Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."

Out into the darkness going, of my journey knowing,
Led on by the raven's showing through the evening's chilly store.
As the morning light was dawning through the evening's heavy awning,
Underneath me I saw yawning what I dared not dream before.
Standing by the open grave in which I saw my lost Lenore,
Dead to all forevermore.

"Now," he cawed, "dost thou believe me? Did my ebon beak deceive thee?"
"Wretch!" I shouted, "go and leave me empty as I was before!"
"But you two shall be together" mocked the raven, "soon, forever,"
As a gust from windy heather threw me in atop Lenore,
Leaving me to ponder my misfortune brought by raven lore,
Buried here...forevermore.

Rare

I sit upon the sunless shore
Waiting for the light of day
To rise above the horizon line
And chase away the nightmares
Join me at the water's edge
Listen to the breaking waves
Take in the smell of pure air
And know that in this place
In this time and location
All I'll ever need is to know
That you are here of your own will
Time spent with you is like nothing else
And that makes me happy
As rare as that is

I sit upon the sun-lit shore
Waiting for dusk to end
To bring the shadows back to life
And chase away those fuzzy dreams
You left me here alone again
To watch for the rising moon
Saying good bye to yesterday
Embracing the night for it keeps me calm
And I know that I will survive
Without you in my life
But I grieve for those special times
I wish to see the glint of light in your eyes
And I can never have that again
And that makes me sad
As rare as that is

I sit upon the star-lit shore
Wishing for your touch
Wanting to share this feeling with you
To truly feel alive again
But this I cannot have
Not now at least for sure
And so I'll wait for day to come
For hope to shine down on me
To say hello to a new day
And the possibilties therein
I'll be happy to know you're alive
I'll be sad to know that you're gone
But I can be content in knowing
We had that time together
And that is what matters most
As rare as that is

Shrug.

Fura kind of gave me a challenge the other day, although I don't know if she realized it. She had a phrase running through her head and asked if I could write a verse on it. For some reason the phrase stuck with me, and while at lunch today it just hit me. I jotted this down in about half an hour, and want to thank Fura for the inspiration.

Rose-Scented Footprints

Warm running water and skin flushed to glow
The wafting perfume of a presence I know
Carries me back to a memory on the breezes that blow
Following rose-scented footprints on the tiles below

The silver of starlight on the fresh-fallen dew
The sweet echo calls me to the days of my youth
Where love blossomed freely and joy came anew
Upon rose-scented footprints in a garden which grew

Tarried we there in the spring's earthen bed
And heady with moonlight the summer we wed
And danced we down paths which windingly led
Close to rose-scented footprints in rapture I tread

Then autumn came softly on light running feet
And though all things must fade my love remained sweet
Until silent winter and the snows did entreat
Fading rose-scented footprints I should never more meet

So hark to the angels who sing upon high
From the dust of our birth to the dust when we die
Know that each soul is captured in the blink of an eye
Leaving rose-scented footprints like a dream passing by

Feeble flesh surrounds my bones
As I am still only human
But naught can surpass the beautiful storms
That dominate the windswept heavens

The steady breeze sends waves of grass
Rippling around my feet
Beset with emotions I watch silently
As the behemoth of the skies sweeps slowly in

In perpetual darkness
I feel I belong
Borne on lofty clouds of midnight
In the midst of the storm

With a soft and supple roar
Endless in its miracle
The land is coated
In a glistening sheet of rain

With each resounding crack
Rumbling on into forever
Others jolt awake in terror
But I am lulled into yet deeper slumber

Javelins of daylight scorch the earth
Illuminating the world
In all their might and glory
Their energy completes me

The wind manifests itself
To whisper words of comfort
As it wreaks havoc below
And I share its joy and triumph

With the lightning lancing from cloud to cloud
And the thunder exhibiting its might and power
And the rain pounding upon the land, reviving
And the wind lashing out to howl in joy and ecstasy
My doubts and cares are swept away
And I am lost
deep within
the storm

Beautifully done, Ashiwi. Image I knew you could turn it into something beautiful and lovely...

She was here.
Johnson's not going to shake me this time.
Nuyen was promised, wetwork was done,
A deal's a deal.

Lowlights spot the rats she left behind,
Eager to run out on the payment.
They must be a lot cheaper than me.
You get what you pay for these days.

Blood in the puddles shines pink by the light of the passing car,
Pink like roses crushed into her perfume,
Stinking a trail through the alley past the bodies of her rats.
It don't pay to be too rich down here in the Barrens,
Don't pay except for the predator.

Pretty words, Johnson, "Oh I just forgot,
"I'm glad that you found me, how did you do it?"
Sure, I'll tell her. "I smelled your perfume."
Flaring bullets dimmed the cunning gleam in her eyes.

Credsticks in my pocket, Ingram on my back,
Johnson won't hire me again, but there's always more -
Johnsons trailing perfume like blazing a trail
Johnsons spilling nuyen from their clean soft fingertips
Johnsons paying for pretty pink rosebuds
For each other's burials.

Here's a few from my homepage that Yahoo decided to take down *ROLL*.

Betrayal of a Dream

Too many things you have done to me
This pain grips my soul like a raging sea
The salt within its waves burn me with each crash
My dreams and my desires have all turned to ash

I wonder why each day I continue to believe
That this pain will go away, and my heart will be free
The dagger of reality shall awaken me someday
And you shall find me lying facedown, upon the heart you betrayed

Your name still sits on my lips as I gaze away
Into the horizon, into the end of another day
And yet another starry night has passed before my eyes
Without you by my side, and only to myself may I confide

Gone it has, this dream I grasped
Nevermore shall I see its smile, nor hear its laughs
In the end, there will only lie for me
A shattered dream in the path I see

-----

Insanity of Bloodlust

Diving into the ethereal, my mind drifts astray
Reality or dream, I often wonder, but can never say
Fog surrounds me on this bleak and dreary night
I stalk my quarry, their eyes betraying pure fright
Once again I feed as the lifeblood flows, hunger sated
Yet I crave for more, this bloodlust unabated
A perversion of nature I am, corruption entire
I retreat as dawn approaches, bane of the vampire

From my dark cave I await the daybreak
I watch the village from afar, and I remember heartache
My life was stolen away in a night of romance
How I succumbed so easily in my hypnotic trance
Newlywed wife of mine brought this upon me
This curse of eternal life, I think to myself bitterly
She can no longer do this, the victim of my hatred
For mortal life shall always be precious and sacred

Full moon reveals itself, disrupting my reminiscing
I rise from my lair as the sun finishes descending
Howling in unspeakable pain, the metamorphosis occurring
Werewolf I have become, and I hear a stirring
Bearing canine teeth, I bound after a fleeing deer
I realize too late 'tis a trap, as my prey disappears
This illusion has led me into the place I will perish
But release from this life I fear not, but indeed cherish

Eyes opening moments before my imminent death
This nightmare had occurred again, and I release my breath
Still lethargic, I rise to stretch my arms and yawn
I squint my eyes and shield my face from the dawn
Hiding from the sunlight, I begin to panic
I am still undead I fear, and become frantic
I run my tongue along my teeth, then cry out an insane scream
For the bloodied fangs I bear never was a dream

-----

I Am

I am...nothing you could ever expect
I am...ferocity of passion, you would not regret
I am...forgotten always, forgotten again
I am...insanity unbound, numbness from the pain
I am...what life has made me, nothing more
I am...what you took away from me, settle the score
I am...warm and tender, but dead inside
I am...hardened steel, I cannot confide
I am...bitter and seeing, of all that's around me
I am...youthful and exuberant, this mask that I carry
I am...jaded at last, relinquishing my dreams
I am...errant of the norm, could you forgive me?

----

Returning Memory

Forgotten faces
Return so abruptly
Back into your life
Which they'd left suddenly

Familiar voice calls
Out your name from the street
The sound so startling
Your heart nigh skips a beat

Turning to the sound
Her smile brings much pain
As she waves to you
From the downpour of rain

Flashbacks tormenting
The old scars from within
What plans does she have
That require you again

She walks to you now
For the first time in years
You hope you'll manage
To not break down in tears

Is she crawling back
To admit she was wrong
Or perhaps returning
Just to drag you along

Did you learn last time
From the mistakes you made
That you cannot live
If you always need aid

The fears that lie deep
Are the ones that will burn
Will you face them now
And give love one more turn

----

Two Faces

Seclusion in my life has its good things
It protects me from the heartache love brings
Yet deep inside I yearn and crave
To bring back the loves I could not save

So I sit in this quiet place and think and dream
But my heart has been torn across the seams
I pray that perhaps one day I can find another
Not another heart, not another lover

A chance is this thing I seek to find
But my life of late is falling behind
I feel my soul ebbing to black
And there's not much time to bring it back

I look in the mirror and what I see
Are two faces, and neither are the real me
My reflection is that of the past
And how my life did never contrast

The other is myself, of the ever present now
Which is fading away slowly, I must stop it somehow

----

Vague Dissonances

Conflicting lives
You would never think they'd compromise
I found out for myself as I passed the days
A love to be cherished, a love to be unfazed

Somewhere along the way
I fell in love, it was at first astray
Yet our dissonances in our lives brought us only closer together
The feelings we shared we thought would last forever

How vaguely I remember these pieces of the past
And somehow, someway, they were overcast
Dreams we shared of happiness
Have been replaced in my heart by pangs of sadness

Meaningful vague dissonances, never fail, and are the way
We learn to love, we learn to stay
Close enough to hear the whispers of our souls
And far enough away to hold one another, a love unforetold

Slipping away from you I see
That this dissonance in my soul was meant to be

----

Most of these were written 3-4 years ago.

Enjoy!

I Cry For You

life is a dream
a nesting ground for hopes and choices
pain and suffering
thoughts and spoken words
love and hate
revenge and redemption

like dreams
all separate from one another
locked to the prying eyes of others

i saw you in my dreams
was it real or a trick?
stretching out my arms
i beckoned you in
and with a flash you were gone

i felt the cold flow of tears down my cheeks
and i cried out for you in my deepest grief
but you were already gone
and so i once again was alone

the eerie silence
my goals flickered temptingly within my reach
i turn away
nothing is the same
without you there

i call your name
my voice echoes
emphasizing the emptiness of my heart
i am weak and i cry
i fear this necessity

my bleeding heart beats
and my soul moves
as i picture your face
why are you not there?

i see......

i yearn for you
i need you
but i will not admit it to myself
and so you cannot enter my dreams
and so you cannot embrace my heart
and so you cannot hold my soul in your hands

i cry for you
and try to unlock a barrier i constructed myself
i see you on the other side
i cry for you
your face contorts in pain
as you desire to wipe away my tears
and you beat uselessly at the wall keeping us apart

i whisper words of love
i step away
and disappear into my own shadow
and yet i remember your face
i am not worthy of your devotion
i am sorry for making you cry

4/13/02

-------------------------------------
My Nightmares

crimson blood streams down my side
whips and chains snap and rattle
pain bringing me in and out of consciousness
screams and insults rushing past my ears like the wind

jagged cuts appear on my flesh
releasing blood to pour out onto the cold stone floor
i am gagged
my screams of horror turn into soft groans
my hair is ripped from its roots

i am healed
only to be tortured again
the physical pain ceases to exist
the emotional anguish never forgotten
the mental strain threatens to turn my brain into mush

there is a faint gray light
the endless tortures have faces
they have voices

the light burns brighter
i open my swollen bruised eyes
cold tears slide down my face
i do not have the strength to scream any longer

the faces i see so clearly now
my heart ceases to feel
like a poisonous dagger has pinned me to the wall
i recognize them
i recognize those faces

i wake
i wipe the tears from my face
i calm my shuddering sobbing
i wrap my arms around my pillow
fearing the night
fearing to be alone
watching the dawn approach
oblivious to my pain

Neverland

The water ripples in blues and greens
lapping gently at the rocky shore
The wind whispers in my ear
caresses my bare flesh
a yellow orange sun shines brightly
through cotton candy clouds
the trees dance to the melody of birdsongs

green and golden grass
the deep harmony of frogs
the gossip of a wandering stream
the kiss of the dew
a fiery sunset
the ocean wraps her arms around him
allowing diamonds to be scattered on dark blue silk

i can fly here
to be icarus but never losing my wings
i can sing here
my voice rivaling that of the sweetest nightingale
i can laugh here
be as carefree as my friend the brook
i can dream here
i can sleep here
i have peace here

i can love here
yes its beautiful
the stars smile down on my face
and the fireflies dance
i want to fall on my knees
and let it all soak in

but then a voice calls
and i feel a tug on my soiled dress
i hang my head
warm tears water the soft earth
i must return
i must leave this place
and then darkness

the moon shines
and i can see the glitterdust that allowed me to fly

Welcome to my Dream

the dirt path disappears
and you tread on dead leaves
as the green foliage above
rustles in rhythm to your step

silver trout glisten in crystal clear streams
a gust of wind dances a waltz with the breeze
The sun's rays play hide and seek
among the towering trees
and chipmunks gossip with blooming flowers

Silence falls among the birds
as deadfall crackles under your boots
You are ashamed of disturbing such peace
deer and bears stop their play
to watch you with curiosity
the wind whispers admonitions in your ear

the surroundings are beautiful
you stop to stare
suddenly you see a figure skipping in your direction
Long black hair and pale face
Short stature and pretty smile
Light and graceful, showing no fear
she stops to look at you for a moment
puts out her hand

"I am Jenera and welcome to my place. Do you want to play?"

You smile and suddenly everything is gone
You hear honking of horns and screeching tires
A cold cup of coffee is in your hands
A half-eaten bagel has grown stale
You blink and look up
I am watching you
a slight smile on my face

Haven't really written anything in a while, most of my stuff was stuff that was angst fueled during high school. This is something I put to paper about a year ago when I couldn't sleep at 7 am or so. It was an idea that had been floating in the back of my head for a while but taking time to write stuff hadn't been a priority when it's something generally associated with work.

Untitled

The beauty of your smile when our eyes meet,
The softness of your hand when it grabs ahold of mine,
The warmth of your body when you wrap your arms around me,
The tingling sensation left by a peck on my cheek,
These are the sensations that make life worth living.

The look on your face when I give you the perfect gift,
The comforting words you give me when I'm feeling down,
The nights that became mornings while we were chatting,
The many moments with you I hoped would never end,
These are the memories I'll always cherish.

You mean more to me than I can bring myself to say,
So I try to speak with sweet words and a smile.
My mouth dances around and fumbles with my heart's true intentions
Even as my eyes whisper how I really feel.

And when I see you with him, I smile a bittersweet smile,
As I watch your eyes lingering on him,
Knowing that your mind never strays far from him,
Knowing that your heart will never leave him,
Happy that you have someone you cherish,
While sad that I can't call you my own,
Knowing that he means to you what you mean to me.

I still treasure your smiles, your hugs, and your innocent gestures,
And the memories of our time together still keep me warm at night.
Your friendship will always be something precious,
And I'll never regret how I truly feel about you.
But deep in my heart I know that sometimes,
It's just not good enough to come in second place.

RENAISSANCE MAN

The first time I saw him, he was standing onstage
A flash of old-fashioned in a world of new age
With the voice of an angel
He found his way in my heart
With the tongue of a devil
He swore that we’d never part

He could weave a tapestry
In conversation
Paint a new day
Before the old one was done
And build up my hopes and dreams
Believing he was the one

He made a science of love
A calculated act
A preparer of half truths
And cultivated fact
He rewrote my life and my world
Signed and sealed in a pact

They say a Renaissance man
He has many skills
The talented one
Who does what he wills

He can look you in the eye
And tell you a lie
That’ll just make you cry
And hold on

He can cheat you with ease
Get down on his knees
Beg pretty please
Just the way that you want

Then take you back in his arms
Seduce you with his charms
And you’ll fall

He’s a Renaissance man
He does it all

TRACES OF SNOW

Traces of snow
On my windowsill
Where did you go?
My heart loves you still
So bitter cold
Without you to hold
My heart knows winter at last

Hushed, muffled nights
Creeping silently
Your touch on my arm
It’s a fantasy
No warmth next to mine
No starlight to shine
Darkness enfolds me again

I know why the songbird remains
To sing in a tree which stands dormant and bare
The chill winds still whisper your name
Longing for springtimes we’ll no longer share

A single, quiet tear
Slowly falling down
Frozen hope of love
Shatters on the ground
A glimpse of your face
Your gentle embrace
Are only memories, your love only memories
Are sweet, fading memories now

"Break It Down"

I see you behind closed doors.

Shut me out.

Turn the key.

Thank God for this lock.

Whatever you do, don't let me see.

It could be so frightening.

Seeing the world without a haze.

It could be so enlightening.

Seeing you do deserve such high praise.

So let me in.

Take down these walls.

Don't turn your back again.

When your potential companion calls.

I would sit here for an endless hour.

And listen to your every thought.

My sweet maiden shackled in a prison tower.

Look at all the joy our bond has brought.

Maybe I walked with a little more pep.

Maybe your day passed just a little bit quicker.

Always dreaming of taking with you the next step.

These watery tears fade as I bleed that which is thicker.

My blood spilled on the tiles of your mind.

Pray to me as I am down on bended knee.

Without you this life is more than a grind.

All the time I once had pains me in envy.

I want to be your every last desire.

Take me to the edge of this line.

Bathe me in the passions of the fire.

That was born from you being mine.

And as you turn from me to depart.

I will place my hand upon your chest.

And listen to every beat of your heart.

And as my lips kiss you from breast to breast.

I will hold you until the sky falls down.

I will kiss you until the sun ceases to shine.

I will adore you even if you're not around.

I will love, always, the time you were mine.

So break it down.

These walls that encase you.

So break it down.

These chains that embrace you.

So break it down.

These fears that erase you.

So break them down.

These fears.

Before they replace you.

Life is a prison,
Oh God let me out.
No one to listen,
To hear when you shout.

Climb the walls of insanity,
Ride the waves of despair.
If you fall it don't matter,
There's no one to care.

Used to wish for a window,
To see birds, trees and sky,
But you're better without one -
Stops you aiming too high.

Watching freedom is painful,
For those locked away.
Seeing joy, love and happiness,
Another price that you pay.

Strong is good, weak is bad.
Be it false, be it true.
Your mind makes the choice,
And enforces it too.

Cell walls built by society,
With rules to adhere.
If you breach the acceptable,
You had better beware.

Hide the pain, carry on,
Routine is the key.
Don't let on that you're not,
What you're pretending to be.

Lock it all up inside you,
How badly that bodes.
Look out for that one day,
When it all just explodes.

Leaving naught but a shell,
Base functionality too.
But killing all else,
That was uniquely you.

So how do you grow,
With a timebomb inside?
Or how to defuse it,
Without destroying its ride?

You can't.

Oh what the hell, figured this was a post worth keeping in the forefront so others would join us?

Untitled 29...

Leave me alone,
I cry and scream,
Horried torrents in frightful dreams,
I run, I hide
I cannot leave,
Insidious scares won't leave me be.
I bear the scars,
That you should see,
Across my legs, my backs, my knees.
Take my soul,
As you took my seed,
My wounds are large, I still do bleed.
I am still here,
I hold my steed,
Last will and testament I hereby read.
I want no revenge,
It's against my creed,
I only want to take my leave.
It may be awhile,
I'll just have to see,
Perspiration dots in tiny beads.
I'm not a martyr,
I just try to lead.
Others stand for more than me.
It's hot in here,
Flames and steam.
Burning sensations at my seams.
It seperates us,
Within the ring,
Of the best we are the cream.
We give our praise,
To long lost kings,
Holy visage and psalms we sing.
Remember the scars,
You gave to me.
Remember my soul, remember my seed.
Know I'm still here,
Holding my steed,
Waiting until I'm finally freed.
See what you've done,
And taken from me,
Admit you are wrong, and correct your deed.
You hold me now,
Against my creed,
Leave me alone, let me breath.
What will you do,
When I finally leave,
You never should have messed with me.

** Everyones gotta battle their own demons, right? **

I've Passed This Sign, Once Before..

I've passed this sign, once before,
It casts its shadow on the floor..
I cannot see yet what it reads,
Only where my feet proceed.
The same old ruts,
The same old wheels,
Through tearful floods,
And painful squeals.
I travel this road yet once again,
This lonely road until the end.
My heart still achest, my head it pounds,
My hands are numb, feet drag on the ground.
I pass the same old grass, and road, and floor....
I've passed this sign, once before.

**I think everyones been there. The same old cycle, ball and chain - I think we know we're there in some way, unconsciously, and once, finally, when we consciously are we aware of our true curse of circuitous living, are we able to change it and ..well, be born again.**

Be There For You

Uncurable sighs,
Shivering cold,
At night I cry,
For your hand to hold,
What could I do?
What can I try?
Now that I've lost you -
I just want to die.

Let me back in,
I'll never betray,
You said let's be friends -
But I've made mistakes.
Please don't judge,
And end what we've had,
I'm still filled with love -
Please, don't be mad.

I only want you to smile,
And be who you are,
I can't leave you unhappy,
And I'll never be far.
When he leaves,
When you cry,
I'll be at your side.
When he's gone,
And you sigh.
I'll help you stay high.

I've lost you now,
We can only be friends,
But I've got to know how
To earn your trust again.
The sacrifice is there, my words are true,
Just know that I'll always
Be there for you.

**Love. Grumble. Fer the faeries, I tell ya!**

The Rain

I feel the rain, it keeps coming down,
I fear the sun won't come again.
And if the rain keeps coming down,
I'll drown on life because I can't swim.

The clouds of my life, they tell a tale,
The pain I know rains down like hail.
I can't suceed, I only fail,
Persecution, my souls in jail.

What do I go, where have I been?
A lonely road my only friend.
I'm leaving now, gone once again,
And I won't stop until I reach the end.

My guiding light it just went out,
And now I'm doomed to roam about.
Frustration makes me want to shout,
That's it, I give, just let me out.

It's dark in here, and I have no light,
All alone, no one in sight.
Where's my soul, am I alright?
What can I do to bring back the light?

What does it matter, while I am here,
I know you speak, I just can't hear.
Losing the last time is what I fear,
I just need to know, and draw you near.

But you won't know what I understand,
Been through more trials, than the average man.
I'll try to change, I hope I can,
But where will I stop and make my stand?

My life it changes so many times,
From rain to sun, to rain and shine.
I know now, with how hard I've tried,
I've seen so much and know the signs.

The time has come to change again,
Hope I make it, pray for me friend.
And if I don't, then this is the end.
Just pray I don't drop down again.

**I'm almost back to this point. Seems a little depressed but, well, it's been a good two years and this is when I do my best writing. I think it's a healthy thing really, because being able to write things like this is like a cleansing for me. I can write dark (you'll see below) but once it's out (thank god) it's out. No little demons bein harbored in this doogie! (yet!!) On another note, think of Toril when you read the one above again. At this time I wasn't mudding at all, but look at the similarities to life on the mud you can find Image

Valued In the Rough
A diamond is forever,
A ruby for a month,
An emerald dies over dinner,
A topaz over lunch.
A sapphire makes a date or two,
Then quickly fades away,
Zirconiums last as long as diamonds,
But are easier to replace.
Maybe we put too much emphasis,
On how much things last (or don't)
We focus on the smallest flaws,
That mar a baubles want.
To decide what gem is best to wear,
I never think to much.
The most beautiful gem that I could bear,
Are the ones I value in the rough.

**Ugly Ducklin' Rock Story**

To Envy The Dead
The world came crashing down today,
And guess who caught the blame.
Doesn't matter if I'm guilty or not,
The result remains the same.

So yes for that, I pout a lot,
And wish that it would all end.
Some geniuses dream of suicide,
Others just envy the dead.

**Ooooo, Dark Arti, Dark!**

Forgive Me

Forgive me.
I make mistakes.
I err.
I am a product of the wrong,
In the wrong, for the wrong.
Forgive me.

** :P **

Options
Blade to the vein,
Bullet to the head,
And cars that run into trees,
Ropes that can hang,
Poison to be fed,
Could all be the death of me.

** Darker Arti! Ack! **

Hush

Red skies glowing, faintly remember,
Like a last undying ember,
Fueling the fire
With unrelenting desire
Fanning the flames,
Urging them higher...
hush.

Foul words on innocence unblemished,
Tainted lies vauge in reminiscence,
But there, of course, planted like creepers
We try pulling them out but the roots grow deeper.
Bleeding red, or green or even a sickly yellow
In outrage I cry, I shout, I bellow,
hush.

Clouds on the move,
Dark but clearing,
Creations that soothe,
The silence I'm hearing,
Silver linings in the air,
But..I'm...not..quite...there..
Don't ruin it now!
hush!

** hush! Now! Fools! **

In Bed
As I lay in my bed, thoughts racing,
and I lay my head down, embracing,
the feathery down of pillows unturned,
I cannot accept the pain I am bearing,
with no wrath to fill by sharing,
The pains of truths unlearned.

And as I lay on my back, head hurting,
mind and heart engage in bitter flirting
over how to cure lovers' hangover thats turned
fromc rying to whining, to crying for dying
from dying to trying to giving up - sighing
Because my soul is now charcoaled and burned

I turn to my side, lungs heaving
my inner child mortally bleeding
I just can't help but wonder why
That in the end the best we wish,
but we know we take too many risks
So everything turns out to be bloody damn lies.

On my side, shallow panting
I listen to my minds sketchy ranting,
I scream and clutch at my head.
There's no more room for more demons
So I must run now and flee them.
As I lay, thoughts racing, in bed.

**By far one of my favorites from a book of like 150 that I made. Now I just wish I could find a publisher, win my noble prize, and retire at age 20! WOOT!**

I hope you enjoyed them. Most are several years old and they look small in comparison to all the others on here. I just felt I needed to post like twice as much as most everyone else who's already been on just to make up for what was lacking in composition. But, hell, that poem about Ragorn a couple of posts up was the best I've ever seen! -nod self!-

Bitter grey and anger there
Ensconced in sky above
Pour out the rain of heavens tears
In mourning for my love

For never hast thou walked the earth
In grasses sere and fields gone rough
Thou didst not pray for deliverance
As sorrow for my love

Barren soil and empty womb
And seedlings serving beetles’ trough
Desolate, burned by crimson sun
In the absence of my love

Sharp stones in darkness underfoot
In treeless shadowed valley clove
Knowing only prayers for flood
And lost without my love

Siren

A pale sliver of silvery light
Beaming down from o'erhead
Splits the darkness of the night
Wakes me from my mossy bed
Illuminates a glassy pool
And neatly fills my drowsy eyes
Shimmering like a fancy jewel
There is where my treasure lies
A beacon from the star-lit sky
To guide me to the promised land
It's all I can do not to cry
As I gently slide my hand
Through the water's icy grasp
A shiver running up my spine
But my will is meant to last
And the treasure will be mine
So I stumble in my lunge
All the while fighting dreams
And take the final chilling plunge
Towards the glowing, whitish beam
The siren's song grows to a scream
As I drift under the surface
Somewhere below the lingering dream
I realize the final purpose
Of that chanting melody
As life abates within my core
A strange and mocking parody
Of what I was looking for

Sometimes it's hard to see what you want
When the siren's come a knockin'
Just remember: the water's not your friend
And you should keep on walkin'

Sorry got to bump it, wrote something new, haven't written poetry in a long time.

Oct 6

tomorrow
tomorrow the day i cannot ignore
i feel it stabbing me in the pit of my gut
where that little scar that cost so much sits
i can't stop the tears
and i can't atone
you could have been my world
my body betrayed me

i named you
and you were mine
my body betrayed me

three drugged hours
they bled me dry
and you were gone
i should have gone with
but i hung on
little angel
my body betrayed me

i can't stop the tears
i can't atone
you could have been my world
my body betrayed me

for Ember Ann, I'm sorry

I came back into the world of men
To see if I might feel again
Releasing the locks of my filigreed pen
Seeking the path where now becomes then

We swam the currents of distant days past
The silvered streams of waters fast
Upon their surface our fates we cast
Through haze of days not meant to last

We lost each other in waters cold
Pushed past dreams in currents bold
Emerging far from flowered fold
Of forget-me-nots we could not hold

On different paths our footsteps tread
And walked on roads which dwindling led
Always the assurance that our hopes had bred
To rejoin our trace in the shallows ahead

The waters of time are frigid and deep
In their numbing embrace we laid our dreams to sleep
Awaiting the turn of the tide so to reap
The harvest of promise between us to keep

In granite façade my denial I buried
To hold fast a spirit so broken and wearied
Standing, a statue, amidst waters hurried
Biding desires for which I had tarried

The ages about me had grown over wild
As lichen creeps over the bier of a child
By lassitude’s ambivalent acceptance beguiled
Cupped in the palm of its comforts reviled

Now breaks the spine of history’s page
The lap of waters my memory to gauge
Bearing over the foundation of my rocky cage
Releasing the dreams that had wasted an age

Swirling about me, sluggish and slow
My eyes searched the map of the stream’s ebb and flow
Longing for signs of life’s passage to show
A new destination and direction to go

But as sunlit skies passed into gathering gloom
The waters revealed your crumbling tomb
Held fast by the rapids of rushed river’s plume
Embraced in the folds of death’s barren womb

My dreams I spied fleeting round river’s path bending
Washed away in the swell we thought never ending
Drowning the promise of ruptured ties mending
Granite eyed weeping amongst life’s waters blending

In statued silence I had retreated to wait
For intertwined paths through the deep pools of fate
Never believing the tug of life’s streams would create
The eddy of currents between us too late

I know now that I am not created of stone
I am tears and flesh, I am blood and bone
And when all my days, like seeds, have been sewn
I must pass into the night’s cold waters alone

been thinkin a lot about poetry lately, might be time for me to get back in the hang of it ... for the time being, I browse the internet ...

Motionless

If time could stand still, I’d freeze it here,
So you’d always hold me, close and near.
In your arms, where I’m meant to be,
Filled with the perfect love you’ve given me.

A bond so strong, a hold so tight,
To know you’re the one; my ‘Mr Right’.
A blessing sent from up above,
In you I’ve found my one true love.

Our lives entwined to be as one,
Upon this journey we’ve just begun.
Where you and I will find no less,
Than eternal love and happiness.

Keeper of My Dreams

When you're not here to share my days and nights
My life is so incomplete
For you are my heart, my soul
The ‘oneness’ I had known to seek

Without you I merely exist from day to day
With you I know that I will find
All that I have been searching for
My completeness, my eternal peace of mind

You are the keeper of my dreams
The man who holds my heart in his hands
The one I want to spend my life with
The one with whom I will always stand

Stand beside through thick and thin
Through all that life will throw our way
Knowing that this special love we share
Will guide us, each and every day

This journey was started long ago
Before this time and place
The journey of completeness
As two hearts and souls embrace

Forever is what I want with you
For the search is at an end
Our hearts have found each other
As lovers, as soul-mates, as friends.

My Love

My love is like an ocean
It goes down so deep
My love is like a rose
Whose beauty you want to keep.

My love is like a river
That will never end
My love is like a dove
With a beautiful message to send.

My love is like a song
That goes on and on forever
My love is like a prisoner
It's to you that I surrender.

You awake in me this, and so much more ...

It's not mine, but it's one I always liked.

One day the Lord gave me a rose
Who thought she was a weed
For her thorns of life had wounded her
And caused her soul to bleed

A rose so beautiful and rare
As one could ever be
But she cannot find inside herself
The flower that I see

She looks around the garden
And admires the flowers there
Not realizing that her petals
Are as beautiful and fair

I live to see the moment
When she understands it's true
That the other roses look at her
In admiration too

Someday, I'll find the mirror
That will make her understand
When she sees the rose's reflection
In the glass held in her hand

That reflection of a flower
The purest one that grows
And she'll feel my adoration
For the weed that is my rose
